Manchester United and Inter Milan Reach Deal on Alexis Sanchez Loan

The hard core recruiting efforts of Romelu Lukaku seem to have worked because Alexis Sanchez will reportedly be joining him at Inter Milan for the season. Alexis becomes the second Manchester United forward to join Inter this summer transfer window, as the two sides have reportedly reached an agreement on a loan deal for the Chilean.

United will be paying a portion of Sanchez’s salary this season while the Serie A side have no obligation (and by some reports no option) to buy the former Arsenal man.

NBC Sports claims that Inter “will only have to pay $5.5 million of his $25.5 million salary,” while ESPN reports United “contributing around £6 million of his £391,000-a-week salary. Inter are set to pay £9.46 million of the 30-year-old’s wages plus a loan fee to United.”

At the end of the day, United are paying him not to play for them- that’s how bad they want him off the team/Sanchez wants out this season.

An expensive piece of deadwood, it’s really starting to look like his acquisition, part of a swap deal with Arsenal for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, could be the worst acquisition in Old Trafford history.

Perhaps Sanchez, who is still producing for the Chile National Team, will find new life at the San Siro.

As for United, jettisoning the highest salaried player in club history means their shallow and youthful group of forwards now becomes thinner and younger. It’s clear that United must believe Anthony Martial’s injury to not be serious and expect 17-year-old Mason Greenwood to contribute significantly this season.
