Mohamed Salah an Injury Doubt for New Year’s Day at Burnley FC

One thing about the festive period, the fixture congestion means that you can start looking ahead to the next match just hours after today’s game concluded. The aftermath of the last game and the preview period for the next one pretty much overlap.

That was the good Mohamed Salah news, now comes the bad. Salah was replaced by Georginio Wijnaldum in the 84′ today, with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp revealing the Egyptian was suffering from a slight injury that could keep him out of the New Year’s Day trip to Burnley FC.

“I don’t know in this moment exactly [what the injury issue is], but he was limping. That’s never a good sign, to be honest,” Klopp said.

“We have to see what his problem was. We will see what he can do for the next game.”

So there you have it, no more information about the injury has been revealed at this time, and Salah will have his fitness assessed between now and January 1. It is a race against the clock to see if he’ll be ready to go in the next fixture.
