It’s already been a very exciting summer at Liverpool, with plenty of topics to discuss. And we’re only getting warmed up. What offseason, right?
Let’s take a spin through the news and notes making the rounds on the internet today.
–Mohamed Salah was viciously injured by Sergio Ramos in the UEFA Champions League Final, and many thought that his availability for the World Cup would be in doubt. His absence would obviously derail Egypt’s campaign, but it turns out that he’s not going to miss any time at all.
His injured shoulder has healed up nicely, as Egypt manager Hector Cuper said his franchise player is 100% going to play tomorrow’s Group A opener versus Uruguay.
“Salah is doing very well indeed, he’s recovered very quickly,” Cuper told the media ahead of the match.
“We’ll see how it goes today. We can say almost 100% he will play, barring any unforeseen factors at the last moment.”
Well, it appears that arguably the top story of this World Cup actually has a happy ending after all. Time to celebrate with a happy, catchy song. You’ve probably already seen this one, as it came out in February, and it has over 8 million views, but in case you missed it…
The best part is when they changed “Standard Chartered” to “Sturridge Injured” LOL!
In case oldies aren’t your thing, and you prefer pop tunes instead, check out this Philippe Coutinho transfer to Barcelona themed parody of Havana na na na. It’s clever at times, but there are a couple lines that don’t really sense.
The James Milner bit is hilarious though.
Again, you may have already seen this, as it came out in January.
-Moving on to the Premier League fixture list reveal today, the schedule conveys an odd quirk in regards to Liverpool. Every league fixture preceding a Champions League group stage contest will be on the road. It will be some tough matches for this past season’s UCL runners-up too, as they will take on their big six rivals.
More from ESPN FC: “The fixture list, released on Thursday morning, provisionally shows that Liverpool will face rivals Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Arsenal before European matches.”
-On the flip side, the Daily Mirror points out why manager Jurgen Klopp should be happy about the fixture list. The Reds get West Ham United, who have seen better days recently, on the opening weekend, and the rest of the early schedule is not all that imposing.
