Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius has had a rough go as of late. He’s really been taking a beating on social media lately, with LFC supporters ripping him apart. It’s reminiscent of how Reds fans talked about Simon Mignolet last season. Today’s 2-2 draw with West Ham United certainly felt like a loss as Liverpool dropped two points at home versus a once proud side that is now struggling in the relegation zone.
The first half saw the goals coming in fast and furious, but the scoring stopped with Divock Origi equalizing just after halftime.
Then the Hammers parked the bus and a tie ensued. After the game, Manager Jurgen Klopp was asked a goal standard questions about today’s disaster, how a league title contender dropped points at home versus a bottom feeder.
Given the nature of the line of questioning, there were numerous opportunities to call out Loris Karius, but Klopp refrained from doing so. He could have easily thrown his goalkeeper under the bus (or you could call it pulling a Jose Mourinho- hey hey! Thanks I’ll be here all week, remember to top your bartenders!), but great managers do not do such things.
