We’re in the 11th hour of the summer transfer window, and Liverpool FC did one major piece of business on this deadline day. Surplus to requirements midfielder Harvey Elliott is going out on loan to Valencia. Elliott does not seem to be part of the plan for Andoni Iraola, just like he wasn’t really a major part of the program for Unai Emery last season either. Harvey Elliott made one just one league start while out on loan at Aston Villa last season. Suffice it to say he will not be available for the league fixture at Ipswich Town on Friday night.

And that’s because we learned everything we needed to know yesterday: Cody Gakpo is staying put, despite drawing strong interest from both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.
Gakpo had to stay put because Liverpool would not sanction his sale unless they first lined up a replacement.
They had to two in mind- Crystal Palace’s Ismaila Sarr and Brighton’s Yankubah Minteh. Bradley Barcola, the second most expensive player in Liverpool history, was signed last week.
The former PSG winger is in line to make his Reds debut on Friday night.

Federico Chiesa (lower back muscle injury) is a doubt for this one. Otherwise really nothing changes here- Jayden Danns, Joe Gomez, Giovanni Leoni, Hugo Ekitike and Conor Bradley remain sidelined as longer-term injury injury absentees.

The Sports Bank was lucky enough to be granted exclusives with two members of the Ipswich Town ownership contingent. New Orleans Saints Hall of Famer Marques Colston and former MMA fighter Nick Edwards, are both owners of Ipswich through their involvement with the Champion Fund.
We asked them how they became involved in owning the club.
“We like looking at emerging leagues,” said Edwards.
“European football, and others, and so that’s how we got into Ipswich. We kind of formed and had the relationship where we were able to get in at an evaluation where they were in the Championship League, and now they’ve since been promoted to Premier League, which is obviously great upside for those that are participating in Champion Fund.”
Colston mentioned what drew him to becoming a part-owner of ther club.
“It’s figuring out how do you extend the thing that you spent your entire life building towards, once you’re done as a player. (otherwise) It’s like you fall off a cliff and you don’t exist anymore.
“Like where are the opportunities to to stay engaged and actually build wealth through the product that you created.”
