Arsenal FC and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain seem to be at an impasse regarding a potential contract extension. With just one year left on his deal, Oxlade-Chamberlain is apparently on the trading block, and there’s a flurry of transfer rumor stories linking him to Liverpool circulating in the Twitterverse, blogosphere, cyberspace and media world.
This isn’t the first time. The Ox was also linked to Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool in April of last year, while two more rival English clubs, Southampton and Manchester City, were also both reportedly keen on him at that time.
David Maddock and John Cross of the Daily Mirror claim that Liverpool have taken their Oxlade-Chamberlain approach to the next level. The report says that the Englishman is valued at £25 million, and there is supposedly a “growing feeling” that he could be on the move to Anfield.
The midfielder made 45 appearances across all competitions in 2016-17 and he scored six goals and contributed 11 assists. The 23-year-old is very versatile, playing on both flanks, and in the central midfield role. Liverpool can offer UEFA Champions League football next season, while his current club cannot, and you have to believe that will certainly be a part of the Reds recruiting pitch.
It could end up being a very eventful and productive summer at Anfield.
