During his news conference on Friday, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said he felt very confident that his club will have success in the upcoming summer transfer window. The allure of Champions League football is an important major recruiting tool in the summer transfer window, and Klopp knows that qualifying for Europe, two seasons in a row, would make his recruiting pitch even more appealing.

They can guarantee UEFA Champions League football next season by winning one of their upcoming games- today at Chelsea or May 26 in the final versus Real Madrid.

Even if they should lose both, the Reds are still all but certain to get back to Europe next season, as their spot in the Premier League top four is all but clinched. Obviously, many in football world is impressed by what they have already achieved, in getting to the final. And in one sense, Liverpool’s summer transfer window has already begun.

They spent big money to acquire RB Leipzig star Naby Keita last summer, to have him join up at Anfield this summer. Klopp told the Daily Mirror that’s where the acquisitions will begin, not end for Liverpool, as he promises an eventful transfer window this summer. The German also makes it clear that he wants to beef up the attack.

“We already have Naby Keita coming and that is really good and we will probably sign a couple more players, because that’s how it is,” said Klopp.

“We have to strengthen, first of all, the squad. To bring in players who are 200 percent better than the players we already have will be quite difficult, but we still need to do a few things to have more depth in the squad. That is very important.”

“We had a weak problem in the winter. Phil left and Adam Lallana was not here then, which would have been a perfect replacement but he was not involved. And then Emre Can disappeared with injury.

“That was our problem, so we need to prepare as good as possible so that it will not happen again.

“You can never get rid of all injury risk but as long as we could rotate that would be all fine but then in the very decisive moment, it was not that fine. But then the boys still did brilliantly.”

Financing all these summer transfer buys should not be an issue, as Liverpool are a rich club that will see another cash infusion via their Champions League success.

Also, they did get £142 million back from the sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona in January.
