Manchester United have just revealed that star striker Radmel Falcao has a minor injury and his fitness could be doubt for today’s epic clash with Chelsea. Louis van Gaal said it’s a minor knock, not a knee injury.
“He got a kick in the morning [on Friday] so we have to wait and see if he’s fit enough,” Van Gaal said on the team’s official website. “But it’s not a knee problem.
“He had a knee problem but not anymore. We have to build Falcao up, that I have also said in the first press conference when he came to our club.”
If Falcao is unavailable to go against Chelsea, Van Gaal will be left with just three true forwards: Robin van Persie (who is not himself, and not in top form), Will Keane and James Wilson. Obviously, there are major striker injury concerns on the other side as well, with Loic Remy, Diego Costa and Didier Drogba.
Radamel Falcao got his first goal in a Red Devils shirt on October 6th, see the footage here. And later he reiterated his desire to remain a fixture at Old Trafford for a long time moving forward.
Falcao on MUTV: “Me and my family are very happy here and we want to stay for many years at Manchester United.”
Earlier this week, it was reported that his loan move is set to be made permanent this summer. Terms were supposedly agreed upon, £43 million.
When Falcao was introduced to Old Trafford on September 12th he expressed similar sentiment to what he said today.
“I’ve had a great welcome. When you’re surrounded by quality players it makes settling in more easy.”
“This is a big challenge for my career. I always dreamed about being at Manchester United”
