Radamel Falcao is a top ten trending term in the United States right now due to his slipping in Chelsea’s Community Shield defeat at the hands of Arsenal today. Falcao joined Chelsea after his season-long loan from Monaco to Manchester United had disastrous results.
Falcao was such a flop at Old Trafford that the mere mention of his name often draws ire, and to see him fail today has led to a lot of schadenfreude from fans of United as well as the football community in general.

As much fun as people are having with Falcao, let’s be fair and balanced here. A Sunday Mirror piece today features Diego Costa saying that he believes he can form a lethal Chelsea strike force alongside new arrival Radamel Falcao. There have also been feature pieces this week with both Jose Mourinho and John Terry saying they back Falcao to succeed at Stamford Bridge this season.
Of course, what else is the Chelsea boss, as well as the skipper, supposed to say when asked about Falcao?
Costa pulled out of the Community Shield due to a hamstring injury, and Mourinho confirmed today that Falcao will start in the friendly versus Fiorentina on Wednesday.
There’s talk that Costa could be a doubt for the Premier League opener; meaning Loic Remy and Falcao are poised to get more playing time.
