Jurgen Klopp Wants Liverpool to Close Games Out Like Chelsea Does

As they say in Glengarry Glen Ross: “ABC- always be closing.” That’s what Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp said he wants to see from his side, after they drew 2-2 with lower mid table side AFC Bournemouth. The Reds have seen themselves drop 15 points this season from matches where they were in position to win and take all three points.

The dropped points here and there really all add up in the long run, and it could end up making the ultimate difference between whether or not they finish in the top four. Liverpool currently sit in third place, with 60 points, but the rest of the top four has a game in hand on Jurgen Klopp ‘s men.

Fourth place Manchester City, who have a game in hand, are just two points behind, while fifth place Arsenal and sixth place Manchester United both have two games in hand on the Reds, and they’re six points behind.

Thus, the race for a top four finish is going to be a dog fight down the stretch, and every point matters greatly.

Klopp said that if it were current table toppers Chelsea in the same exact position as the Reds yesterday that their opponent would not “have the ball (even) three times in the last 20 minutes.”

“We don’t have this experience. Probably you need things like last night to get more experience, even though it was not that good.

“On the other hand, we’ve probably still scored the most goals in the Premier League so far, so it’s part of the game that we try to create moments all the time.”

“We have to get more experience in this, for sure.”

As Klopp pointed out there, Liverpool is the highest scoring team in the league, and as such makes them a really fun club to watch.

Of course, their season has also been defined by blown leads, which makes them an entertaining side to view on another level, for neutrals and fans of other clubs, this campaign. For Liverpool supporters it’s simply been maddening to watch their squad, in a year where no lead has been safe.
