Chelsea forward Eden Hazard gave an exclusive interview to Marca, in which he was asked about moving to Real Madrid for the umpteenth time. His answer was pretty much the same exact response that he always gives when this never ending narrative gets posted to him: he’s focused on Chelsea right now, but won’t ever rule out a potential move to Real someday.
“In football, you never know. I am happy at Chelsea and fully focused with them,” Hazard said in the interview published on Friday; sticking to tried and true industry standard platitudes.
The father of Eden Hazard claimed that his son was stalling on Chelsea contract extension talks in order to invite an offer from Madrid, but the 2015 PFA Player of the Year remains as coy on the topic of his future as he’s ever been.
The Belgian international was on the cover of a major Spanish daily today, and that vanilla soundbite above may be grabbing the headlines right now in relation to this story, but the real substance, the true takeaway here, is what Hazard had to say about Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane. Hazard was gushing about the praise that he’s received from the French footballing legend.
“I remember 10 years ago when [Zidane] spoke about me for the first time. It was incredible,” Hazard said.
“He was my hero when I was a boy. I watched thousands of his videos and now he is the manager of one of the best clubs in the world, so yes, it is great.”
“But I do not want to stop. I want to keep working, putting in the effort on the pitch, and then I am delighted when people like him talk about me.”

Will Eden Hazard finally make the move to Real Madrid someday soon?
No one really knows for sure right now, but his Zidane quotes could be a signal.
