It will eventually be a very exciting summer transfer window at Chelsea FC, with plenty of comings and goings. Yes, we know it has been crickets chirping thus far, but trust us, things will warm up soon.
Let’s take a spin through the latest transfer rumors and gossip making the rounds on the internet today.
-Former Chelsea and current Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is a huge fan of his former player Willian. He’s made no secret of that. And while United have been linked to Willian quite a bit this summer, it’s now Barcelona who are currently in talks with Stamford Bridge over a potential deal for the Brazilian.
That’s according to Sky Sports News, and their most recent coverage of this transfer narrative on Tuesday. Barca are looking to add depth and quality in attack, and they certainly have the cash cows to provide the milk. A few days ago Forbes revealed the Catalan club as #1 in the entire world when it comes to sponsorship income.
The other club reportedly chasing Willian, United, came in second. Additionally, ESPN reports that Paulinho going the other way could be part of a potential Willian deal.
-Elsewhere, goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, on several occasions, has publicly longed for a move back to Madrid; where his family resides.
Following an epic comeback victory by his Belgium national side in the World Cup knockout round yesterday, Courtois made an appearance on the “El Partidazo” radio show.
During the interview, Courtois reiterated that his children come first in a very brief discussion about his club future.
“The only thing I have always said is that after the World Cup I will look at everything. The most important thing for me is my children, and I will make the best decision for me in everything,” said the Belgian and Chelsea #1.
Belgium battle Brazil in the World Cup quarterfinals on Friday. Courtois has one year left on his current Chelsea deal, and he’s consistently been linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer.
Lastly, the SB Nation Chelsea FC community, “We Ain’t Got No History,” has more on Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur as well, chasing 21-year-old midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, who currently plies his trade with in Olympique Lyonnais. The SB Nation article cites Sport Witness.
