Chelsea have signed a huge £200 million shirt sponsorship deal – the second biggest in history. You know who’s first- Manchester United. The Reds kit partnership with Chevrolet nets them £53 million a year, while Chelsea will earn £40 million a season from new sponsor Yokohama.
The London side’s previous deal was with Samsung.
According to The Telegraph:
The Blues’ new shirt sponsorship with Yokohama that officially starts from next season is more than double the previous £18million agreement with Samsung that was last extended in 2012 and is seen within Stamford Bridge as a significant success for Christian Purslow, who was appointed to run Chelsea’s global activities in October last year.
You know what this lucrative new partnership means…an infusion of cash into Jose Mourinho’s transfer budget this summer. This past window was extremely dull and boring, but expect Chelsea to be big time buyers now. They’ll rival United to be the biggest spenders. Both clubs are rumored to be interested in Nathaniel Clyne, Raphael Varane and Kevin De Bruyne
