Chelsea Battling Barcelona to Acquire Miralem Pjanic from Juventus

We’re starting to see the first couple sparks before the Chelsea summer transfer window really catches fire. Former Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri is reportedly in line to replace Antonio Conte as manager, and with that transaction the other transfer dominoes will fall.

The first domino could be club legend Gianfranco Zola, who has been pegged to join a Sarri led backroom staff at Chelsea. The next could be another key figure from the Italian top flight, Juventus star Miralem Pjanic. It would be easy though, as Stamford Bridge faces tough competition from Barcelona to meet the reported £70 million price tag for the player.

The Daily Mail has more, as they cite an Italian media outlet. The Mail writes:

“The Catalan side have already contacted Pjanic’s representatives over a possible move but now the Blues are also keen on a deal.  According to Corriere dello Sport, Chelsea view the midfield maestro as competition for Cesc Fabregas. Both clubs are understood to be able to offer more lucrative terms to the Bosnian than he is currently on in Turin.”

For Barca, Pjanic could be the replacement they seek to the departed legend Andres Iniesta. For Chelsea, he could be part of a massive summer transfer window overhaul, once all is said and done.

Chelsea currently has two more major transfer targets in addition to Pjanic- Bayern Munich, Poland star Robert Lewandowski and Nice’s Jean-Michael Seri.
