Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata is an authority on Real Madrid, having played for the B team and the senior squad. Therefore, it’s no surprise that his teammate Eden Hazard has spoken to him about potentially making a switch there. Morata left Madrid in the summer of 2017 to join Chelsea, and he knows the people in charge of the current club very well.
This past weekend, Hazard said that joining Real Madrid would fulfill a dream, but that he also doesn’t want to leave Chelsea.
Since Hazard made his comments indicating how much he is torn between his current club and his dream club, the one that is so interested in acquiring his services, Chelsea have reportedly made an increased push to lock the Belgian down to a long term deal.
Morata, while on international break with Spain, gave an interesting take on the situation. Morata told Cuatro that Chelsea cannot hold Hazard back from going to the Bernabeu.
However, Morata also stated his belief that he doesn’t think Hazard wants out of Stamford Bridge.
“If [Hazard] has spoken so clearly, it’s because that is the situation,” said Morata.
“It is not that he wants to leave Chelsea, but if Madrid come in for him, there would be nothing blocking him. It is not like other cases where players force an exit, he has a contract with the club. It should be a good deal for Chelsea.”
Hazard’s Madrid comments might have been made mostly for the purpose of his agent, trying to get more leverage on the club in contract extension negotiations.
