Chelsea FC’s second transaction of the January transfer window is now officially completed. The first was the signing of winger Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund on Jan. 2, with today bringing the announcement of midfielder Cesc Fabregas moving on to AS Monaco. Additionally, striker Alvaro Morata could be heading out on loan to Sevilla, while Chelsea seem hell bent on stopping Callum Hudson-Odoi’s want away to Bayern Munich.

For Fabregas, the Monaco move means that he’s now reunited with Thierry Henry, his former teammate at Arsenal and current boss of the Ligue 1 side. The Spaniard signed a three-and-a-half year deal that will keep him in the principality until 2022.

“It is a great pleasure to join Monaco, it is a new project for me. It is a quality squad with young players and a young coach,” said Fabregas, referring to Henry.

“I am looking forward to starting, we have a big game against Marseille on Sunday. I am very excited.”

Last weekend saw Fabregas bade a very emotional farewell to Chelsea and their fans

We thank Cesc for his wonderful service and wish him the very best of luck for the next chapter in what has been a fantastic career,” Chelsea said in a statement.

Wow. I’m honoured to announce that I will be starting an exciting journey with this wonderfully historic Club. @as_monaco will be my home for the next 3.5 years and I cannot wait to start this new challenge. #daghemunegu #NowItsTime pic.twitter.com/t2rB4Vqklh
