Barcelona Reportedly More Confident They Can Acquire Philippe Coutinho

Yesterday, according to Sky Sports transfer centre, RAC1 , a radio station in Spain, reported that Barcelona agreed upon a deal with Liverpool FC midfielder Philippe Coutinho. The report made it clear that the deal was between Barcelona and Coutinho himself, not Liverpool itself. It also went on to say that no fee had been agreed upon between LFC and the Catalan club.

Jurgen Klopp has strongly and consistently maintained that Philippe Coutinho is his best player, and that the Brazilian is not for sale; at any price.

While Coutinho himself has never made any public comments indicating a desire to leave Anfield for the Camp Nou, he referred to the transfer narrative as being “complicated” just last month.

Just five days ago, we saw widespread reports that Liverpool turned down a £72 million bid for Coutinho, but nevertheless this transfer rumor persists, and today gathers more momentum. Sky Sports UK is reporting Wednesday that Barca not only still think a deal can be done, but are growing increasingly confident that it will get done.

According to Sky’s sources, the transfer of Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain, if and when it happens, could open the door for the Coutinho to Barca transaction. The article from Sky Sports states: “The Catalan giants believe Liverpool would find it difficult to turn down an offer in the region of £89m (€100m). Barca also believe that although Coutinho loves Liverpool, a Brazilian player would find it difficult to turn down Barcelona.”
