Juventus Boss Says Arsenal Haven’t Player Aaron Ramsey in Right Position

Juventus Sporting Director Fabio Paratici has revealed the specific manner in which his club plans to position their new midfielder Aaron Ramsey. Two days ago, the Bianconeri announced that they had acquired Ramsey on a free transfer, with his move to take effect in the summer.

The Welshman’s new deal will see him earn more than £400,000-per-week, according to BBC Sport’s David Ornstein. If that salary seems high, well that’s because it is, and Juve have extra cash to splash given how they didn’t have a splurge on a transfer fee in this deal.

Paratici believes that Ramsey, during his 11 year stint with the Gunners, wasn’t used in his most optimal position.

He says that once Ramsey gets to Serie A, he will occupy one of the so-called “mezzala” roles: either side of the holding midfielder in a middle three.

“Ramsey is a player who, in my opinion, has never found his position, because he has never played as a ‘mezzala’ in a three, which is his role,” Paratici told Gazzetta dello Sport h/t The Independent.

“He’s more technical, he’s a final ball man, he has a nose for the goal. He is a different player from what we’ve got, we don’t have someone like him in our squad.”

While there is plenty of debate how to best employ Aaron Ramsey, what’s undeniable is this- he was certainly a man in demand this season.

While Arsenal did an abrupt u-turn on their interest in giving him an extension, Ramsey was reportedly sought after by some of the biggest clubs in Europe, including Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich. He supposedly really wanted to stay in north London, but he was not a part of new manager Unai Emery’s plans, and he soon felt very comfortable with Juventus early on in the recruiting process.
