The Ohio State football program has led the way in 2016 NFL Draft Green Room invites, scouting combine invites, and early entries to the draft. So it’s no surprise that they also led the way in players selected in the NFL Draft. Indeed Ohio State football IS the new Alabama Crimson Tide right now, proving the Buckeyes win over the Tide in the 2015 Sugar Bowl/National Semifinal game was the real deal Holyfield.

This weekend, the 2014 National Championship Ohio State football team went pro.

Ohio State football set an NFL Draft record for most picks through three rounds and tie the NFL Draft mark for most picks in the first two rounds. Michael Thomas was selected with the 47th pick in the second round by the New Orleans Saints and Vonn Bell was also picked by New Orleans in the second round, with the 61st overall pick. That gave Ohio State seven in the first two rounds – after five went in the first round Thursday night – to tie the NFL record for most picks in the top two rounds, set previously by Tennessee in 2000 and tied by USC in 2008.

Adolphus Washington was chosen with the 80th overall selection by the Buffalo Bills, receiver Braxton Miller went No. 85 to the Houston Texans and tight end Nick Vannett went to Seattle with the 94th pick, the program had set the three-round record with 10 total picks.

Additionally, two more Ohio State football players, one another former quarterback, went in the fourth round (fifth round currently in progress). Linebacker Josh Perry went to the San Diego Chargers with the fourth pick in the fourth round (102 overall) and QB Cardale Jones was the pick that completed the draft’s fourth round, 139th overall, Buffalo Bills.

The Draft is the NFL’s biggest offseason event, and the Buckeyes are the college football program making the biggest impact in it.
