DePaul basketball coach Oliver Purnell announced yesetrday that Andy Farrell has been promoted to the director of basketball operations and Matt Fleming will take over as the team’s video coordinator.
“Andy has done a great job as our video coordinator and his promotion is a director reflection of his work ethic. I am pleased that Andy will continue to serve on the Blue Demon staff,” Purnell said of Farrell’s promotion.
Farrell has worked the last three seasons under Purnell as his video coordinator and came to DePaul with Purnell in 2010. Prior to handling the video coordinator duties at Clemson, Farrell was a graduate assistant at Virginia Commonwealth during the 2007-08 season. As an undergraduate student at Dayton from 2003-07, Farrell was the head student assistant for the Flyers.
Fleming comes to DePaul after serving as the video coordinator at Virginia Commonwealth the past two seasons including the run to the Final Four during the 2010-11 campaign.
“Matt is a welcome edition to our staff,” Purnell said of his newest hire. “He comes from a quality program at VCU.”
After grading from North Carolina in 2009 with a degree in Exercise/Sport Science and Music, Fleming joined the VCU staff as an assistant video coordinator. Fleming was promoted in 2010 to video coordinator after the position was vacated.
