The last time I did a Chicago Bears mock draft, general manager Phil Emery made his splash on day one of free agency by signing Lamarr Houston, among others. Since, Emery has added free agent defensive end Jared Allen, and has brought back fan favorite cornerback Charles Tillman. To date, the Chicago Bears have added 14 players on defense, nine of which were on the team last … [Read more...] about Chicago Bears Mock Draft 2.0 (4-3-2014)

Is Shea McClellin the wildcard in the Chicago Bears’ LB corps?
The Chicago Bears have been extremely aggressive in trying to upgrade their defensive line through free agency this offseason. They have chosen the opposite approach, counting on in-house improvement, regarding the linebackers. The Bears' defense ranked last in the league against the rush last year. They were also 25th of 32 teams in allowing 7.7 yards per pass attempt and … [Read more...] about Is Shea McClellin the wildcard in the Chicago Bears’ LB corps?
How much have Lamarr Houston and co. upgraded the Chicago Bears’ DL?
Legendary UCLA basketball coach John Wooden famously said "never mistake activity for achievement." The Chicago Bears have certainly been active in free agency in trying to upgrade a defense that ranked last against the rush by a wide margin; were 25th of 32 teams in allowing 7.7 yards per pass attempt; and tied for last with just 31 sacks. The question is have … [Read more...] about How much have Lamarr Houston and co. upgraded the Chicago Bears’ DL?
Chicago Bears First Tweet was expectedly braggadocio
If you've dealt with the Chicago Bears Media Relations, then you know how they feel about the media covering them. They're perfectly comfortable with you now showing up at all. They really don't care if you cover them at all. They've even denied access to Bob Costas. So it makes sense that the Chicago Bears first ever Tweet would reflect their attitude towards the media. … [Read more...] about Chicago Bears First Tweet was expectedly braggadocio
Josh McCown discusses Jay Cutler DON’T CARE story on ESPN2 (VIDEO)
Josh McCown had the year of his life with the Chicago Bears in 2013. He was subsequently rewarded with a very lucrative deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Josh McCown should definitely invest his money wisely because 1.) he knows better than anyone how quickly you be out of the NFL and 2.) television commentating will probably not be a career option for him, like it is for … [Read more...] about Josh McCown discusses Jay Cutler DON’T CARE story on ESPN2 (VIDEO)
Devin Hester signs with the Atlanta Falcons
Devin Hester has been dubbed the "Windy City Flyer" (I guess he's the "Hotlanta Flyer" now) and the "greatest return specialist in NFL history." He also raced a cheetah for "Nat Geo WILD’s Man v. Cheetah." But he didn't have a NFL team since the Bears parted ways with him exactly two weeks ago. It was thought that he would land with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he reunited … [Read more...] about Devin Hester signs with the Atlanta Falcons
Julius Peppers signs with the Green Bay Packers
Julius Peppers was MIA a lot this past year, and I don't mean Miami. Peppers was so ineffective and non-existent in the Chicago Bears defense at times that even the homers who masquerade as journalists on the local television stations called him out. Later in the season Peppers started to turn it around a bit, but nowhere near enough to justify his massive salary. Well, he's … [Read more...] about Julius Peppers signs with the Green Bay Packers
Chicago Bears Mock Draft: Free agency has started
The Chicago Bears leaned defense on the first day of free agency. Defensive end Lamarr Houston, linebacker D.J. Williams, safety Ryan Mundy, and special teamer/linebacker Jordan Senn will don the blue and orange next season and add depth to a team desperate for it. On the same day, the team also cut defensive end Julius Peppers. The move saves the Bears $9.8 million this … [Read more...] about Chicago Bears Mock Draft: Free agency has started
Lamarr Houston joins Chicago Bears, other DL targets
The Bears have signed Lamarr Houston. The Defensive end from Oakland inked a deal worth five years and $35 million. Of all the Chicago Bears free agents, Julius Peppers and Michael Bennett were the biggest in importance. Bennett was the number one target, but that's over now. Time to look at plan B for Defensive Ends. And in order to spend your way out of last place on … [Read more...] about Lamarr Houston joins Chicago Bears, other DL targets
Chicago Bears free agents preview: QB and Safety
Analyzing Chicago Bears free agents, the players coming and going, is more fun than every this year. As Brad Daugherty famously told me: "the NFL slaughters everything." Which is why Chicago Bears free agents emerged as the top storyline right now; above even March Madness. Or the Bulls or hockey. On another level, trade rumors and thinking ahead is more interesting than … [Read more...] about Chicago Bears free agents preview: QB and Safety
