christian pulisic

There’s a lot of pressure on winger Christian Pulisic, who commences his first season at Chelsea FC in August. Very high expectations surround Pulisic, the face of the United States Men’s National Team and status holder of “most expensive American footballer in history” when he moved from Borussia Dortmund to Stamford Bridge for a deal worth $73 million.

BVB club legend Patrick Owomoyela, who featured 76 times with the club over a five year span, says Pulisic might be up to the monumental task that is in front of him- replacing the Blues’ departed to Real Madrid superstar Eden Hazard.

Ian Rush Expects More Activity from Liverpool FC this Transfer Window (Exclusive)

Liverpool FC legend Ian Rush is in town and he apparently brought stereotypical English weather along with him. The 57-year-old Welshman, Liverpool’s all-time leading scorer, threw out the first pitch of last night’s Chicago crosstown series game, where the Cubs beat the White Sox 7-3, in gray, rainy and unseasonably cold conditions.

Rush likened the atmosphere of last night’s game to a local derby, did a public appearance at a local pizza chain, and made the media rounds in advance of Liverpool’s pre-season friendly versus Notre Dame on July 19. He also discussed Liverpool’s summer transfer window, off-season, expectations for next season and much more in a two part exclusive interview with The Sports Bank.

Maurizio Sarri Labels His Juventus Move a Step Up from Chelsea FC

Chelsea FC fans may not want to hear this, but Maurizio Sarri is completely correct when he labeled his move from Stamford Bridge to Juventus a step up. Juve does indeed have a superior tradition and history of winning. (I mean, after all, the Chelsea SB Nation community is named “We Ain’t Got No History,” albeit in a sardonic manner)

Today was the Sarri product rollout at Juventus, and during the media session the Italian called his new gig the “crowning achievement of a long and difficult career.”

Juan Mata Extends Manchester United Stay by Two Seasons

juan mata

We now have the second official Manchester United transaction of the summer transfer window (third if you consider Ander Herrera confirming he won’t be back next season) with the announcement of the Juan Mata contract extension today.

The addition of winger Daniel James was the first. Maybe bringing over Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace will be the third? We’ll see, but for today, midfielder Juan Mata will stay a red, as the 31-year-old midfielder has inked a deal that will keep him at the club until June 2021. The deal includes a club option for an additional season on top of that.

Ex-United, Chelsea Boss Jose Mourinho Drops Hint About His Future

jose mourinho

Remember in the spring when Jose Mourinho said we’d know what his next gig was going to be come June? Well, so much for that, as it appears whatever position he had on his mind back then just didn’t come through. Or maybe that was just part of the proverbial plan all along (Jose Mourinho is famous for his mind games), as the Special One has now spoken out about his future.

In an interview with Eleven Sports, the Portugese spoke as in-depth about his future as he has since being sacked by Manchester United in mid-December. The Portugese had been linked with AS Roma down the stretch of the 2018-19 season, and his name has also recently come up in relation to Newcastle United, and perhaps even a return to Chelsea.

Manchester United Transfer Talk: Issa Diop, Romelu Lukaku, Max Aarons

The rebuild of Manchester United could definitely take some time, so get ready and dig your heels in for that. The upshot is that we should, at least in theory, have a blockbuster summer transfer window filled with many comings and goings.

With Manchester United linked to approximately 97,324 players already (although only one has actually been acquired), the time is right for some Red Devils transfer talk. With just 11 days until players report for training camp, United need to take their slow start to the summer transfer window and really kick it up a notch.

ran rush

Liverpool FC legend Ian Rush will soon have yet another plaudit to add to his already lengthy list. The 57-year-old Welshman is Liverpool’s all-time leading scorer, having accumulated 346 goals across all competitions at the Merseyside club.

He scored a record 25 in the Merseyside derby against Everton alone. He was the all-time leading scorer for Wales as well, until 2018, when Gareth Bale surpassed the total of 28 that he accumulated between 1980 and 1996. And now Ian Rush will throw out the first ball when the Chicago Cubs host the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday night in the second of the two teams’ four clashes this season.

Tottenham Hotspur Transfer Talk: Alderweireld, Eriksen, Zaha, Maddison

alderweireld

After taking a few, certainly a couple transfer windows off, Tottenham Hotspur are set to get back in the game. Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino feels confident that Daniel Levy and the rest of the higher-ups above him will finally provide the support he needs in the transfer market this summer.

That means the time is right for some Tottenham transfer talk and we begin with the stellar Christian Eriksen, who is out of contract at the end of the upcoming season.
