Burnley FC Are Simply Not Getting the Results they Need

By James Connolly

Uninspiring Christian Pulisic Showing Polarizes Chelsea Fans on Social Media

If #LampardOut has a twin brother, then it’s probably “Christian Pulisic is overrated.” Fan overreaction has been around as long as sports have had spectators, but it’s really ramped up, and then injected with steroids in the era of social media. Christian Pulisic has yet to play a full 90 minutes in a league game for Chelsea, but he is already getting written off as “overrated” by many Blues supporters.

Sunday’s result, which Pulisic’s friend, New Orleans Pelicans SG Josh Hart was on hand for, was about as entertaining and interesting as 1-1 draw can get, but Pulisic didn’t have a great game against Leicester City, who came to Stamford Bridge with a great game plan.

Alexis Sanchez Reportedly Close to Joining Romelu Lukaku at Inter Milan

ALEXIS sanchez

Lots of talk about the future of Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez the past few days, and with that, we’ve heard a lot of mixed messages. United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said on Friday that the Chilean will be a part of the club’s plans this season, and that Alexis will “come good” at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile The Guardian claimed on Thursday that Inter Milan were growing confident that a season long loan deal for Sanchez would get done. And now it looks like it’s going to happen, and very soon.

Can Any Team Really Challenge Manchester City In The Premier League?

By John O’Leary

We’ve had the first couple sets of Premier League fixtures now and after a convincing 5-0 win in their opening game, Manchester City see their odds to win the league at 2/5. Even a draw against Spurs in their second game didn’t really make a dent in the odds.

Christian Pulisic Welcomes Pelicans Josh Hart to Chelsea Home Opener

Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic welcomed New Orleans Pelicans shooting guard Josh Hart to Stamford Bridge today for the Blues home opener against Leicester City. Hart is a Chelsea super supporter who played college basketball at Villanova, which is not far from Pulisic’s home town of Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Hart, a two time All-American in college, helped lead Villanova to a national title in 2016. However, he certainly has not been a “star” (as the tweet below indicates) in the NBA thus far. The former Los Angeles Laker, traded to New Orleans as part of the Anthony Davis trade, is actually more a “role player.”

Chicago Fire: A Realistic Look at their MLS Cup Playoff Chances

After a couple recent Chicago Fire results, we’ve seen this popular talking point in heavy circulation: “they’re only three points out of a playoff spot.” While technically true, it’s a very misleading statement that leaves out a lot of critical information.

Entering tonight’s 2-0 win over Eastern Conference table topping Philadelphia Union, the Fire were in 10th place, three points behind 7th place Montreal Impact (holders of the last postseason qualification slot in the East), but the Fire had played one more match than Montreal (and hence had more opportunities to pick up points than the Impact have had).

Jurgen Klopp Has Hilarious Response to GK Adrian’s Bad Gaffe

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is often good for a fantastic sound bite and Saturday, following his side’s 2-1 win at Southampton, was certainly an example. Adrian, filling as the starting goalkeeper while Alisson recovers from a calf injury, made an enormous blunder today at the St. Mary’s that gifted a goal to the opposition.

With just seven minutes remaining, the Spaniard flubbed a clearance off a back-pass and kicked the ball at pressuring Saints striker Danny Ings, and the former Reds forward knocked the ball into the net. Luckily, Liverpool was up 2-0 and the goal didn’t impact the overall result of the match.

Arsenal 2, Burnley News and Notes: Ceballos, Aubameyang, Lacazette

The second Premier League weekend got started off with Arsenal defeating Burnley at home 2-1; and Gunners summer transfer window acquisition Dani Ceballos was the man of the match. The Spaniard, acquired via loan from Real Madrid, was a force defensively and controlled the tempo.

It was a sublime home debut for the midfielder. He was also instrumental in both of his side’s goals on the afternoon, scored by Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang. Second year manager Unai Emery was very impressed by what he saw.

Manchester United Team News, Starting XI Prediction at Wolverhampton Wanderers

Was the unexpected and eye-popping 4-0 scoreline we saw on opening weekend an indication that Manchester United are much better than most people seem to think they are? Or was it indicative of Chelsea being much worse than many thought?

It might be a combination of both, plus Blues boss Frank Lampard not starting the game with a few of his more experienced and highly regarded players. United can definitely show they’re for real in week two though by getting a result at Wolverhampton Wanderers. Wolves are a tough out for anyone and side that the Red Devils struggled mightily against last season.

Philadelphia Union Shred “Stick to Sports” Cliched Nonsense

“Stick to Sports” is certainly in the same family as “go back to your country.” Both seek to condescend and dehumanize. And the kind of people who use the former expression, often use the latter, and vice versa.

It’s odd because a.) no one ever says “stick to sports” when a sports figure opines on food, drink, movies, television, music, books etc. And no one ever a news talking head to “stick to politics” when said pundit opines on sports. What the phrase (used by people as high profile as ESPN/ABC host and far right winger Sage Steele) really means is “stick to sports when you voice political beliefs I’m not comfortable with.”

Chelsea FC Starting XI Prediction, Team News vs Leicester City

Chelsea FC looked a lot better in the midweek loss to Liverpool in the UEFA Super Cup than they did in the season opening blowout at Manchester United. With that in mind, you can expect Chelsea manager Frank Lampard to put out a first team on Sunday that is very similar to the starting XI that he selected in Istanbul.

The main storyline to emerge from that match centers around Tammy Abraham, who suffered racial abuse online after his penalty miss that ended the match. Lampard, rightfully so, has blasted those have abused Abraham online, calling out the disgusting keyboard tough guys.
