By Patrick Pierce

Liverpool FC aims to maintain their 100% start to the Premier League season when they take on arch-rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, October 20. The hosts have made their worst ever start to a Premier League campaign and they already trail Jurgen Klopp’s men by 15 points.

Liverpool are now truly back on their perch while Man United have slipped into a quagmire of mediocrity. Therefore, it is unsurprising to see the Reds installed as odds-on favourites to win this game. This next edition of the rivalry indicates just how far United have fallen, and just how high Liverpool have soared.

Report: Mario Mandzukic, Manchester United Reach Verbal Agreement

January transfer window deals are typically for teams with major holes to fill and doing so with options that can come off as desperation. Mario Mandzukic, 33, leaving Juventus for Manchester United could be another deal that kind of fits this bill.

United are a total mess in the final third, and although the Croatian doesn’t represent a major upgrade over the personnel available in attack, he would provide depth for the Red Devils, who made whiffed on some recent forward acquisitions, let them go and then never replaced them.

Edwin van der Sar Says He’s Interested in Man United Football Director Gig

Manchester United need a Football Director, with plenty of actual power, to take over the massive task of the roster reshaping. The fact that this search has carried on so long, with no end it sight, just makes it look like a de facto farce; as if it’s just lip service put forth publicly to placate the fan base.

The real problem at United is the Executive Vice President Ed Woodward, an investment banker who knows nothing about football. The incoming Football Director, in order for the post to work, would need to have autonomy on his decisions, and enough cloud at the club to be able to make Woodward stay in his business ledger sheet lane.

There’s plenty of chatter out there about the job security of Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer right now. Some are reporting that his seat is warming and that Old Trafford even has a potential replacement or two lined up.

Chevrolet to Reportedly Help Fund Man United Acquisition of Neymar

This week has brought plenty of talk involving both a potential transfer of Neymar, and the current partnership between Chevrolet and Manchester United. Thus, the following transfer rumor, which seems a bit outrageous at first glance, isn’t so ludicrous upon closer inspection.

When you put all the pieces together, it somewhat makes sense. Of course, the reason we’re even talking about this topic is because it’s international break, and thus a slow news day. Nevertheless, Spanish outlet Diario Gol reports that United are out to acquire Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain, and that their shirt sponsor, Chevrolet, will help fund this transfer.

Manchester United Reportedly Set for World Breaking Shirt Sponsor Deal

Manchester United will host Liverpool a week from Sunday in a match-up of two arch-rivals that sit currently far apart in the table. Liverpool lead the league while United are 12th, but the two sides are still on equal footing when it comes to marketing and corporate partnerships.

While the course of their two seasons has been diametrically opposed thus far, we’ve seen reports circulate around both clubs in regards to potential record breaking kit deals this fall. For Liverpool, it’s the sportswear producer partnership, as Nike are reportedly prepared to out-bid current partner New Balance.

Should Real Madrid Take a Gamble on Jose Mourinho?

jose mourinho

By Joseph Connolly

It’s often said in life that you should never go back. You should never return to a relationship after it’s ended, no matter how tempting it might be. It’s not advised to return to living in your parents’ home after you’ve moved out, because you’ll have become too accustomed to having your freedom. You also shouldn’t return to a job after you’ve left it, because it’s likely that the reasons you left it in the first place still apply.

Manchester United Transfer Talk: Solskjaer, Mourinho, Naglesmann, Pochettino

At the second international break, Manchester United are truly in dire straits. Sitting in twelfth place, just two points ahead of the relegation zone, you have to wonder about the job security of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Yes, he deserves to be given adequate time, but the results speak for themselves, and these awful results are nowhere near the standard for Manchester United. They have not won a road game, of any sort since the UCL triumph at Paris Saint-Germain in March.

Victor Lindelof Provides Fitness Update Ahead of Liverpool Clash

Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof played through back pain in Manchester United’s goalless draw with AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League last week, and in doing so found himself on the sidelines during his side’s miserable 1-0 loss at Newcastle United on Sunday.

Youngster Axel Tuanzebe played pretty well in place of Lindelof, but unfortunately, there weren’t many other positives for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men on the weekend. Lindelof is currently on international duty with Sweden, who have European Championship qualifiers coming up versus Malta and Spain.
