In his press conference on Monday, ahead of his side’s win at Burnley Tuesday night, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave a January transfer window update. He totally threw cold water on the idea of Old Trafford adding anybody this month.

However, OGS also said that “two or three” squad players could be on their way out, so we should have some actual transfer activity in the winter window. Let’s look at which players could leaving FIRST PLACE Manchester United this month, and where they might be going.

Paul Pogba Playing Up to Potential, Leads United to Top of the Table

Manchester United won at Burnley FC 1-0 today, and in doing so ran their unbeaten streak in Premier League play to 11. They also moved up to first place, all by themselves, assuming this position in January for the first time since 2013. The man of the match, the player leading the way, Paul Pogba.

The most expensive transfer in English history, this is what United paid Juventus 90 million GBP for in 2016. The Frenchman scored the only goal of the match, and his passing was sublime on this day. For United to really be all they can be, Pogba must be all that he can be; full stop.

Man United Go Top of the Table, Solidify Status as Title Contenders

Manchester United are officially Premier League title contenders again. With a 1-0 win at Burnley tonight, they are now in first place, all by themselves. The last time United were top of the table this late in the season, it was back in the Sir Alex Ferguson era. It was actually 2012-13, Fergie’s last season, which of course ended with a Premier League title.

After 17 games last season, United were 6th in the league, with 25 pts, and that was 24 pts behind top of the table Liverpool. This season after 17 games, they’re on top, with 36 pts and three clear of Liverpool. Progress has been made, ans that’s undeniable.

Manchester United vs Liverpool Headlines FA Cup 4th Round Draws

Manchester United and Liverpool, two English giants and bitter arch-rivals, will meet in six days time for a Premier League fixture that will determine the top of the table. Then they’ll meet again about a week later in the FA Cup 4th round.

The fourth and fifth round draws for the world’s oldest domestic cup competition came out a few hours ago, and no doubt United vs. Liverpool is the headliner. Here below is the entire list- and note that the proverbial big six of the Premier League were drawn as to avoid each other in the fifth round.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Says ‘two or three’ Players Could Leave United in January

In his press conference today, ahead of his side’s clash against Burnley tomorrow night, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave a January transfer window update. Basically, he threw cold water on the idea of Old Trafford adding anybody this month.

However, it doesn’t mean that no transactions will take place, as OGS also said that a couple squad players could be on their way out. A third of the way through the month, nothing has happened yet regarding United and the winter window.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Provides Fitness Updates on Paul Pogba, Eric Bailly

Ahead of tomorrow night’s Premier League clash at Burnley FC, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer provided an update on the fitness of central defender Eric Bailly and midfielder Paul Pogba. It appears the club will be sweating on the match fitness of both, and it sounds like both will be a game day decision.

Pogba and Bailly both trained today, but only in a partial session. Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw trained fully, so they are both expected to be available for selection.

Manchester United Starting XI Prediction at Burnley FC

Manchester United have one last tune-up before their epic showdown with Liverpool a week from today. That match is Tuesday night, when they’ll travel to Burnley FC.

They do have four major fitness concerns ahead of the next league fixture, and there is the possibility that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could have a real selection headache in central defense. With that in mind, this is how we see the team shaping out in midweek.

Manchester United Team News at Burnley FC: Pogba, Shaw, Lindelof, Bailly

For Manchester United, the stakes are quite high and very clear- a draw or better at Burnley on Tuesday night and they’ll be top of the table all by themselves. Currently level on points with reigning champions and arch-rivals Liverpool, United also have a game in hand on the Merseyside club.

What a tremendous morale boost it would be for United, to head into their crunch clash with Liverpool on Jan. 17 perched above everyone else  in the league. To get there however, United might have to make do without a few key players.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Doesn’t Want Donny van De Beek to Leave

Amid transfer rumors linking Donny van De Beek with a move away from Manchester United, and other rumors linking the club with acquiring new players at the Dutchman’s position, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer affirmed the midfielder’s place at the team.

It’s fair to say that we might see Van de Beek later tonight, likely in a starting role, when United host Watford in FA Cup play. There have been calls, from leading figures in Dutch football, for United’s first acquisition this past summer transfer window to leave, but OGS has said that he wants the £40 million man to stay put.

Manchester United Starting XI Prediction vs Watford (FA Cup 3rd Round)

For Manchester United, there is really no time to really dwell on the Wednesday night loss which saw them eliminated from the EFL Cup competition.

Their intracity neighbors and rivals, Manchester City, handed United manager Ole Gunnar Solskajer his fourth loss in the semifinal round of a competition, meaning the Norwegian is now 0 for all 4. However, they must move on, instantly, as tomorrow brings the next match, and in a new competition.
