Former White Sox OF Andruw Jones arrested on Christmas for domestic violence

When Andruw Jones was with the Chicago White Sox he gave the fans a couple thrills. Most notably, his 400th career home run. He played with four more MLB teams, including the Atlanta Braves for 12 years, for which he is best known. Jones won 10 Gold Gloves during his career.

But enough about that, it wasn’t a very merry Christmas in the Jones household, in fact it was a dysfunctional and violent one. He was arrested on domestic violence charges, assault and battery. Perhaps he should hang out with another former Sox slugger, and alleged wife-beater Wil Cordero?

According to Big League Stew:

Gwinnett County (Ga.) police arrived at Jones’ home in the Sugarloaf Country Club in Duluth, Ga. at 1:25 a.m. on the morning of Christmas Day. The police investigated the suspected domestic incident and determined that there was sufficient cause to arrest Jones and charge him with battery.

The Gwinnett police incident report indicates that Jones’ wife Nicole told officers that the couple had hosted a Christmas party the night before, and that Jones had been drinking during the party. Later, while the two were trying to construct a table for Christmas morning, Jones grew angry. The fight escalated, and according to Nicole Jones, Andruw Jones placed his hands around her neck and said, “I want to kill you, I want to [expletive] kill you.” Jones denied hurting his wife, but the police report indicated that Nicole Jones had “visible injuries.”

Jones was booked into Gwinnett County jail at about 4 a.m. and was released about seven hours later on $2,500 bond.
