Wisconsin’s Jon Leuer: NBA Draft Combine Interview (Video)

Wisconsin power forward Jon Leuer was one of 54 players invited to the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago. The former Badger has a lot to gain from workouts as Leuer projects to be picked anywhere from the late first round to mid-second round.

A lot of scouts have compared the 6’10” forward to the Toronto Raptors Andrea Bargnani who was the number one overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft.

The Sports Bank caught up with Leuer at the NBA Draft Combine where he elaborated on his work-outs since leaving Madison, some NBA teams who have expressed interest and his versatile skill-set.

Leuer’s biggest strength is his ability to hit his jumper from almost anywhere on the court. He can also create off the dribble and contains a very high basketball IQ.

However, the big man doesn’t have the most well-rounded game in the post. At times, he can disappear defensively and has never been a great rebounder.

Leuer has most recently worked with trainer Don McLean who implemented 2-on-2 match-ups involving Florida’s Chandler Parsons, San Diego State’s Malcolm Thomas and Indiana Pacers’ Paul George.

The Sports Bank’s 2011 NBA Mock Draft currently has Leuer as a mid-second round draft pick.

More can be found in a feature profile on Leuer done earlier this year.

What do you think of Leuer’s draft status? Do you think he deserves to be a first-round pick or is he clearly a second-round pick? Let me know by commenting below!
