Miami Heat Nixes Royal Treament for LeBron Heat Jersey Guy

It’s not everyday that I picture I randomly took on vacation this past summer ends up as news, and later on a blog. Ok, that’s actually never happened on any day in my life- up until last week. But then again, I’m one of the few people in this country who actually “vacations” in Cleveland, so weird is as weird does.

Remember the most infamous Cleveland Indians game of the summer? When Sandusky, Ohio native Matthew Bellamy wore a fresh, new Miami Heat LeBron James jersey to a Cleveland Indians-New York Yankees game and this transpired.

It overshadowed A-Roid’s failure to reach 600* and occurred just a couple weeks after LeBron declared his intention to “take his talents to South Beach.” The Bellamy incident was to the long hot summer of NBA Free Agent Love what the Battle of Yorktown was to the American Revolution.

That night Bellamy also established a new “become famous for 15 seconds because you acted like a complete jackass at a sporting event” precedent. Cowboys Stadium Lap Dance Girl (video available here) followed his rule of show-business.

But it turns out Bellamy got something other than temporary fame out of this:

According to local sports & gossip blog The Jersey Chaser (Check it out, they have a picture of me up )

Now, the Heat have invited Bellamy to go down to Miami and attend a Heat game and meet the team.

Bellamy posted on his Facebook:

yeah, its a night named after me get to meet the team, all xpenses are paid for!! Cant wait super excited.

To quote Lou Brown, the best character in the greatest movie ever set in Cleveland (the Manager in “Major League”) “this has happened before.”

In 2003, some big wigs in Florida (yes, that state again) offered to take care of Steve Bartman, the infamous bespectacled and head-phoned Cub fan dork who drew the ire of Cubs fans everywhere for allegedly turning the tide of the 2003 NLCS in favor of the Marlins with the Moises Alou foul ball fiasco.

Uhm yeah, what about Alex Gonzalez muffing that ground ball which should have turned two and ended the inning? Where’s his wrath?

Anyway, to quote Brown yet again (as it pertains to Bellamy and the Heat) “How about we all give ’em a nice big shitburger to eat?”

And then they did…..It turns out the Heat supposedly rescinded their offer.

According to Clevescene:

While the details of the when and why aren’t clear yet, it turns out that Matthew Bellamy will not be getting the gold star treatment from the Miami Heat.

About eight hours after we posted this story and Bellamy told us about the dream trip to Miami, a Heat spokesman released this statement:

“An invitation was prematurely extended to him prior to the approval process being completed. Once Management became aware of this, it was decided that this is not something we wanted to do.
