Things just keep getting worse for Manchester United transfer flop Alexis Sanchez. Ever since his ill-fated move from Arsenal, as part of a swap deal with Henrikh Mkhitaryan in January of 2018, it’s been a rough go for the Chilean. He was sent out on loan to Inter Milan in the summer, in a deal so awful for United that they actually paid him not to play for them.
It likely won’t be getting much better for the biggest transfer flop in MUFC history either, as he’s now suffered a serious ankle injury while on international duty. The latest injury setback could require surgery, which would of course keep him out of commission for awhile.

Alexis Sanchez underwent medical tests earlier this morning at the Humanitas Institute in Rozzano. Results revealed a joint dislocation in his left ankle which has caused damage to the peroneus longus tendon.
The player will meet for further consultations with Professor Ramon Cugat in Barcelona on Wednesday, where they will seek to reach a decision on whether surgical intervention is necessary.
Sanchez suffered the injury while colliding with Juan Cuadrado during Chile’s international friendly against Colombia. In one start and two substitute appearances for Inter this season, Alexis has one goal and two shots on target.
As for the Red Devils, it remains to be seen how they will solve their issues in the forward position group. Like Alexis Sanchez, they let Romelu Lukaku go, but didn’t find a replacement.
While the kids they have in the attacking unit possess potential, they’re just not ready yet and it looks like they will have to be very active in the January transfer window.
