United Suffer Injury Blow as Luke Shaw Will Reportedly Miss a Month

Word isn’t official as of yet, but it looks like Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has received some bad news in regards to his first choice left back Luke Shaw.

The 24-year-old picked up a hamstring injury in the Red Devils first ever Premier League loss to Crystal Palace on the weekend, being forced off in the 34th minute. Solskjaer held out hope that the diagnostic scans would convey an injury that’s not too serious, but apparently that’s not the case.

According to TalkSport,“scans have shown the injury is more serious than first thought,” and the English international is expected to miss a month of action.

Working with that timeline, Shaw would miss the following fixtures: his former club and surprisingly in form Southampton, top six contender Leicester City, West Ham United, top four contender Arsenal, arch-rival Liverpool and Norwich City.

In other words, it’s a really rough time to be without the guy won the team’s individual player of the year award last season. Ashley Young replaced Shaw in the 2-1 loss to the Eagles, and he’s pretty much the only option to fill in right now. That’s because Diogo Dalot is not expected to return to action until after the international break.

Luke Shaw wasn’t only United first team player to get hurt this past weekend. The team is also awaiting the results of scans on Anthony Martial. The Frenchman, who has two goals and an assist in the three games this season, suffered a muscular injury in his left thigh.

As massive a blow as Shaw is, losing Martial might create an even worse scenario.
