Wednesday night saw the Liverpool FC fab three of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino all score in the same game for the first time this season. The Reds hung a four spot on Red Star Belgrade in their UCL group stage clash, and it’s very likely that we’ll see a continuation of that scoring spree this weekend.
Liverpool welcomes Cardiff City FC to Anfield for a Premier League fixture on Saturday, so let’s take a look at who is fit, who is a doubt and who is unavailable.
Starting with Liverpool, midfielder Naby Keita is doubtful to a hamstring issue. Also, Captain Jordan Henderson is a doubt, after he was subbed off at half-time of last weekend’s win at Huddersfield Town. The reason for his exit? His complaints of a tight hamstring. And of course, another midfielder, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is a long term injury absentee.
Switching over to the Welsh side, Midfielder Joe Ralls is suspended, while defender Lee Peltier and winger Nathaniel Mendez-Laing are out due to injury. Additionally, goalkeeper Danny Ward faces a late fitness test.
Getting back to Liverpool seeing their stellar troika all on target in the same contest, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp naturally hopes that this won’t be the last time that happens.
“It’s hopefully not the last time [all three score in the same game],” Klopp said.
“It was just a good game, a good football game and they could finish the situations because we had the right movements in the right moment.
“In the first two goals we had the counter-pressing situations, which is brilliant and very important. When you see how the big the impact of the boys coming on, that’s really important as well.”
“You can’t win 4-0 if most of the things are not good, and tonight most of the things were really good.”
