Eden Hazard Reveals that Chelsea Rejected Real Madrid Transfer Offer

Chelsea star Eden Hazard turned a lot of heads a week ago when he referred to Real Madrid as his dream club. With a current contract that expires in summer of 2020, Hazard’s remarks restarted the transfer saga that was widely covered during the summer window.

While those remarks created a lot of concern within Chelsea supporters that the 27-year-old Belgian could leave, what he’s said now should conversely reassure them that he’s going to stay put. (For the record he has since confirmed that he’s staying in west London during the January transfer window)

We read reports during the summer conveying Stamford Bridge’s stance that Eden Hazard is not for sale, not at any price. The player himself essentially confirmed that here.

“Chelsea were clear with me. I couldn’t leave the club,” Hazard said. “I accepted it. Anyway… leaving or staying, I was going to be happy. I do not regret this decision at all.”

It’s possible that Hazard only made the comments about Madrid being his dream club as a way of gaining leverage for his agent in contract extension talks. For what it’s worth, his teammate Alvaro Morata, who moved to the Blues from Real Madrid in the summer of 2017, says Hazard has spoken with him about a potential switch to Madrid, and the Spaniard seems confident Hazard will stay put.
