Luke Shaw a Transfer Target of Both Everton and Newcastle United

There’s been talk of a big shakeup at Old Trafford this summer, with manager Jose Mourinho planning a whole lot of comings and goings this transfer window. Of all the players who might be heading out the exit door, defender Luke Shaw could be the most likely. That’s a bit odd to consider, as Mourinho just publicly said last month that Shaw would be at United for a long time to come.

Overall, Luke Shaw has gone through a roller coaster ride during his United career, which has seen himself getting thrown under the bus by Mourinho on more than one occasion. The English international left back may have an escape route to beginning his career anew at Everton though, reports ESPN FC.

The publication writes that “Everton are closely monitoring Shaw’s situation and sent scouts to him against Brighton. The Toffees are in the market for a new left-back as they seek a long-term replacement for Leighton Baines.”

The Toffees will reportedly face competition for Shaw from Newcastle United, report a different news source. The Chronicle indicates that Newcastle “will attempt to sign Shaw,” this upcoming summer window, adding that Magpies manager Rafa Benitez has already “discussed the defender’s position with United officials prior to the opening of the January window.”

When the 22-year-old moved to United from Southampton in 2014 he broke the British transfer fee record for a teenager. Although he almost certainly won’t be breaking any transfer fee records this time around, if he does move, Luke Shaw will still be in pretty high demand. He’s still young, with plenty of time yet to find his way in his career.
