Lots of eventful Manchester United news this week, or at least plenty of items relating to Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The 35-year-old striker learned this week that he will be honored with a statue outside of Sweden’s national stadium. Ibrahimovic also said earlier this week that he’s considering going across the pond to conquer American Major League Soccer.

He literally said “conquer” too,as he referenced French historical national hero Napoleon Bonaparte. However, a transatlantic move is not actually going to be in the cards for Zlatan, as United Manager Jose Mourinho confirmed the club’s plans to re-sign him to a contract extension.

“Zlatan’s situation is simple,” Mourinho told a news conference ahead of Thursday’s Europa League tie against Feyenoord Rotterdam.

“He has one plus one. We are happy with him. We are going to execute the option of a second season. After that he can do what he wants.”

Thus, get ready for more of the Zlatan Ibrahimovic experience in 2017-18, Red Devils supporters.

United need a point from the Thursday night game, otherwise they will be eliminated from Europe’s consolation bracket.
