Liverpool FC Transfer Talk: Mamadou Sakho, Philippe Coutinho

The winter silly season is in full swing, as the January transfer window is open for business. Though we must want you, the winter window possesses just a fraction of the fun, relevance and intrigue that the summer edition contains.

That’s said, we still have plenty of talk today relating to the roster at Anfield, with stories circulating within “the internets” about both Philippe Coutinho and Mamadou Sakho.

Coutinho, arguably the team’s best, or at least the most important player, is set to return from an ankle ligament injury tomorrow night in the EFL Cup against Southampton (more on that here….you can also check out our Liverpool starting XI prediction at this link).

Both Barcelona and Real Madrid are interested, and Manager Jurgen Klopp isn’t having any of that, issuing a warning to the La Liga duopoly.

“We never had any ideas or plans or any talks about him leaving, because he is our player – there are no other ideas, nothing has changed,” Klopp said.

“Big clubs don’t think in this way unfortunately. It was not a big injury so there was no question of him not being the same player afterwards. It would be nice if big clubs forgot about a player completely because he’s been injured for five or six weeks.” (Quote via NBC Sports Pro Soccer Talk)

-Moving on to Mamadou Sakho, a member of the LFC back line who is apparently not a big part of Klopp’s master plan, a price has been reportedly set.

The BBC writes that“Liverpool will demand £20m for defender Mamadou Sakho if he moves during the January transfer window.”

Liverpool have been trying to loan out Sakho since the summer. Galatasaray, Sevilla and Southampton are reported to be interested in the out-of-favor defender. Sakho could be a fallback option for the first two teams mention, who are reportedly keen on Jose Fonte, a member of the third team mentioned.

Should Fonte bolt this window, or down the line, then Sakho could be a reinforcement.

This is a terrible podcast. The guy being interviewed doesn’t sound like a Tottenham fan, and seems to know nothing about the club or the stadium.

I feel ashamed that this guy claims to be a Tottenham fan. I could throw a rock and find 1,000 people that are (or aren’t) Tottenham fans that know more than this guy.

His description of the match day experience is laughable.

Also, Tottenham and Man Utd co-existing?! Are you stupid?! There is no rivalry to speak of. There are 18 other clubs in the Premier League… how can they co-exist with one another?!

Londoner my arse ! I doubt if this bloke has ever been to London let alone being born and bred here. I’m pretty sure he’s never been to White Hart Lane either by the sounds of it.

  4. Concerning transfer: I will like manchester united to spend much on Angel Di Maria and Arturo Vidal,Arjen Roben and Schweignstiger and Isco. They have to sell out Cleverly,Ferdinand,Carrick,Smalling,Young,Nani, etc
