Louisville Cardinals coach Rick Pitino suspended starting power forward Chane Behanan indefinitely for violating school policy. The sometimes ice cream wearing suit man didn’t say what specifically Chane Behanan did, other than the corporatespeak umbrella term, violation of team rules.
Chane Behanan, who was a major factor in the Ville’s NCAA championship run last season, could possibly return in December. Pitino says right now he’s “more interested in Chane the man than Chane the basketball player.”
He also said that Behanan had a second chance, and was given term and conditions to continue playing college basketball, but he violated those terms and conditions within a week. The USA Today Coaches college basketball preseason poll came out today, and UL was ranked #3.
I’m guessing they’re going to fall a bit now. Louisville, now sans Chane Behanan, will open Nov. 9 vs. College of Charleston.
Behanan, who participated in Louisville’s media day on Saturday, is still living on campus but is not in the team’s dormitory or participating in team activities.
