jurgen klopp

What a difference a Sadio Mane makes. With the Senegal attacker away on international duty in the Africa Cup of Nations, Liverpool FC had a disastrous January. The struggles continued into the beginning of February, but today brought a total 180. Mane, who brings to the LFC table a skill set that no one else on the roster really has, bagged a double and Liverpool downed Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 at Anfield.

The Reds continued their recent trend of consistently beating Spurs, and Manager Jurgen Klopp was very pleased with the result; as one would expect.

Liverpool FC Banned The Sun From All Club Premises, Events

Liverpool Football Club have long had a very contentious relationship with The Sun, due to the publication’s failed coverage of the Hillsborough Disaster. Infamous “THE TRUTH” headlines from The Sun are some of the most egregious examples of victim blaming that occurred in the wake of the 1989 tragedy that claimed the lives of 96 Liverpool supporters.

Recent inquests into the disaster revealed that the fans were illegally killed due to negligence by the authorities, and that this negligence was covered up. Much of the initial public opinion was slanted against the fans who lost their lives, and much of that lies at the hands of The Sun.

Jurgen Klopp Says Diego Costa and Him Would “Never Be Friends” on the Pitch

Diego Costa and Chelsea battled Liverpool to a 1-1 draw yesterday in a match that many would consider a victory for the Reds and a loss for the Blues. Given the horrendous January that Liverpool had, this was definitely a moral victory. Considering that Chelsea had won 16 of their last 18 heading into the league fixture, this has got to be considered a setback.

jose mourinho

Those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Liverpool entered January with an insanely jammed schedule, and now as the month draws to a close, they have one win in their last eight across all competitions. Maybe the return of Sadio Mane will save them? Of course, the Reds entered that period already weary from festive season fixture congestion.

Now Manchester United face some serious fixture congestion of their own. Of course, that’s partially due to the Red Devils being proverbial “victims of their own success.”
