There are two athletic competitions in this world that captivate us unlike any other: college basketball’s NCAA Tournament, known as “March Madness,” and the UEFA Champions League. In late winter and early spring, sports fans all across the globe are transfixed by both competitions.

We root for our specific teams first and foremost, and then debate if we should support our primary rivals in our respective leagues/conferences as they take on the rest of the nation/Europe. Let’s say you’re a North Carolina/Liverpool supporter- do you show solidarity for the other ACC/English Premier League teams in the competition? Mohamed Salah Says Liverpool Don’t Fear City, or Anybody, in UCL

Neither Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, nor star winger Mohamed Salah, have any fear when it comes to facing Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League. Of all the remaining eight teams in the competition, just Barcelona have better odds than Manchester City of winning it all.

Liverpool’s odds are only the sixth most favorable. Despite being the underdogs, Klopp says he knows what his side needs to do in order to pull out the upset. Salah isn’t fazed by the prospect of facing City again.

Mo Salah on the Way to Lionel Messi Level, Says Jurgen Klopp

Mo Salah, already a leading candidate for PFA Player of the Year entering yesterday’s 5-0 rout of Watford, put in a dominating performance that ramped up his MVP bonafides ever further. The Liverpool winger scored four times, to give him 28 on the Premier League season, and 38 across all competitions for the Reds.

Entering the clash, the Egyptian international said that he really likes the Premier League, because it perfectly suits his game. Well, the league certainly reciprocates his affection because Salah is having a dream season that has exceeded even the most optimistic of expectations.

Mohamed Salah Says the Premier League Perfectly Suits His Style

Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah is living the dream right now. Since moving over from AS Roma this summer, he’s been tearing up the English Premier League. Salah is locked in an individual battle with Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane for the Golden Boot award. With Kane now out injured for an extended period of time, you’ve got to really like the Egyptian’s chances even more now.

Of course the first Premier League go-around for Salah wasn’t this memorable. He joined Chelsea in January 2014, passing up the opportunity to come to Anfield back then. Over a two year span at Stamford Bridge he made just 19 appearances, and didn’t leave much of a mark, but yearned to return someday and have more of an impact.

Jurgen Klopp Knows How Liverpool Can Upset Man City in UCL

Liverpool FC Draw Man City in Champions League Quarterfinals

The English Premier League broke a record by setting five teams into the UEFA Champions League knockout round. By the quarterfinal round, only two remained. Only one will be left standing in the semifinals as this morning’s draw in Nyon, Switzerland pitted Liverpool against Manchester City.

UEFA did a good job of keeping the most powerful of the powerhouses as far away from each other as possible for (potentially) as long as possible. Take a look at the full draw below:

Jamie Carragher Suspended by Sky for Spitting at Man United Fan


We might have seen the last of Jamie Carragher as a Sky Sports pundit. The network announced the suspension of the Liverpool legend for the rest of this season. Beyond that- who knows? However, his status for next season is certainly in question. Carragher is being punished for spitting at a Manchester United fan and his 14-year-old daughter.

“Jamie has taken full responsibility for what has happened and we will ensure he gets the help he needs to guarantee something like this never happens again,” reads the statement from Sky on Carragher’s future.

You don’t have to be a social scientist to realize that Liverpool pulled off a total heist when they bought Mohamed Salah from AS Roma this past summer for £37.8 million. Just how spectacular of a deal was it for Liverpool to invest in the Egyptian winger though?

Well according to the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) report, the Reds forward has seen his transfer value rise by over 84% since arriving on Merseyside. In the sixth months that he’s been at Anfield, his value has increased from 88.1 million Euro to 162.8. That’s what scoring at will do!

Jose Mourinho Emphasizes that He Doesn’t Care what Critics Say

Manchester United beat Liverpool 2-1 this afternoon at Old Trafford, in a match that may very well end up deciding the Premier League runners-up this season. At the very least, today’s win was a huge boost towards solidifying United’s chances for a top four finish this season.

United have not finished in the top three since Sir Alex Ferguson went out on top with a league title in 2013.

United 2, Liverpool 1 News: Jurgen Klopp, Eric Bailly, Dejan Lovren

Manchester United scored all three goals in their 2-1 win over Liverpool today, but unfortunately they scored one of those goals for the other team. United defender Eric Bailly scored an own goal in the 66′ to go along with Marcus Rashford’s bagging a brace. Bailly, making his first league start since November, actually had a phenomenal game other than this tremendous blunder, which of course casts a tremendous shadow over everything else he did on the pitch today.

Here’s the footage, watch below as Bailly got himself into some trouble on a cross into the box and accidentally flicked a back-footed a volley past his own goalkeeper David de Gea.

Marcus Rashford is currently the man of the hour, as the young Englishman bagged a brace in Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Liverpool today. United are now unbeaten in their last eight Premier League contests against their bitter rivals, drawing three and winning five.

In that span, United have outscored the Reds 12-4, with LFC’s last league win in the series coming way back in March of 2014.
