The Easter Rebellion has come full circle. Left to die on Tuesday afternoon when they were down 3-0, the Chicago Blackhawks have now resurrected their postseason on Easter evening by outlasting Vancouver Canucks 4-3, tying the series at 3 games a piece. Do or die game seven is Tuesday night in Vancouver.

So how did it happen? Some guy you’ve never heard, buried deep down the depth chart- got it done.

So who is Ben Smith?

Probably the smallest guy on the ice, 22 years old and drafted 169th overall in the 6th round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He played four seasons at Boston College, where he really had a ton of game experience.

On October 29, 2010 the Blackhawks recalled Smith from the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs to make his NHL debut in a home game against the Edmonton Oilers. He scored his first NHL goal on April 8, 2011 against Jimmy Howard of the Detroit Red Wings. The right wing is generously listed as 5-11, 205. He played six whole games during the regular season, scoring one goal and taking six shots

On April 15, 2011, Ben Smith scored 2 goals against the Vancouver Canucks in a 4-3 loss in only his second NHL playoff game.
