Tina Maze of Slovenia earned her second Gold Medal of Sochi today. The skiing sensation and also pop music star in her native country is out-performing everyone in Sochi, including Julia Mancuso and Swiss superstar Lara Gut.
Only four women have more Olympic medals than her four, tying Julia Mancuso. “It was a great day for me,” Tina Maze said.
Tina Maze thought Lindsey Vonn was in Sochi — not skiing, of course, but doing television work.
No, she was told. Vonn is back in the USA, doing studio work for NBC.
“Well, I wish she was here,” Maze said.
Of course, would Vonn find a way to rival Maze’s dominance? The 30 year old world champion also made history last Wednesday in the first ever tie for an Olympic Gold. And she won her second gold medal at the Sochi Olympics Tuesday, an impressive victory in a women’s giant slalom race that was hampered by rain and fog.
