You’ve heard about the Aurora, Colorado shootings. The senseless tragedy is dominating headlines everywhere today. I’m not going to get into that, because it’s so sad I don’t know what to say. One of the 12 victims was a sports writer/blogger; Jessica Ghawi Redfield. So I’d like to dedicate a post to her, a dedicated hockey writer.
I now turn it over to Busted Coverage, one of the many places she contributed to.
Jessica Ghawi (Redfield), 24, was an aspiring sportscaster, writer and a sports fanatic.
Her parents told San Antonio news this morning that she’s dead.
Ghawi was attending the premiere of the latest Batman movie with long-time friend Brent Lowak, of Bulverde. Lowak was shot at least once, his father confirmed.
Jessica’s last tweet was to Sporting News hockey writer Jesse Spector, “MOVIE DOESN’T START FOR 20 MINUTES(.)”
And that was it. At least 12 souls gone.
Her brother wrote on his blog this morning:
You know me, I’m rarely speechless, but this is one of those times.
