NBA condemns Cleveland Cavaliers domestic violence “joke”

At least one person at the Cleveland Cavaliers is getting fired today; and deservedly so. How their domestic violence-y video got through their chain of command and saw the light of day is inexplicable and inexcusable. How this idea was even conceived, let alone green-lighted is inexplicable and inexcusable in itself.

Someone (hopefully no longer employed by) at the Cavaliers thought this was funny? Outside of Floyd Mayweather, Ray Rice and people like that, who would approve of, let alone laugh, at this?

This video was played on the jumbotron in their arena last night, and posted to their website.

Cavaliers making a “joke” of beating up a woman, FTW.

Seriously, it doesn’t get much more offensive and tone deaf than that. Well, this is a team owned by a man who made his financial empire by exploiting working people through subprime mortgage loans. So why I am not surprised a team owned by a guy who helped bring the 2008 economic collapse upon us would end up having a socially toxic marketing department.

Now, an NBA spokesperson tells TMZ Sports … “We agree with the Cavaliers that the video shown last night was inappropriate and offensive.”

“We spoke to the team earlier today to convey our disappointment. Anything that makes light of violence of any sort has no place in our league or society.”

The Cavaliers have since pulled the video off its website — and called the thing a big mistake.
