Jimmie Johnson tweets are usually pretty boring. And his team probably wants it that way. Jimmie Johnson interviews with the media are almost always dull and dry. Everyone in NASCAR has to do the “thanking the sponsors” bit, but sometimes it can seem like Jimmie Johnson takes it up a notch. And Johnson winning over and over and over again has an element of unexciting, uninspiring predictability to it.
It likes Ohio State in the Big Ten Tournament. You again in the winner’s circle?
Really?
Do we have to?
This has led many to believe that NASCAR is fixed, and fixed in favor of JJ. After his win at Martinsville, we saw this in the verified stream of Jimmie Johnson tweets:
You haters have it right. I’m a bad teammate, I have a cheated up car, I’m lucky and the race was fixed. Gotta love twitter & #NascarFans.
— Jimmie Johnson (@JimmieJohnson) April 8, 2013
The teammate he’s almost certainly referring to is Dale Earnhardt Jr., the most popular driver in all of NASCAR. (well Maybe Danica Patrick is even more popular. She’ll have quite the following in Texas on Sunday) And he’s likely referring to the Earnhardt spin out incident at Martinsville. Johnson also won this year’s Daytona 500; and he leads the standings in pursuit of his sixth straight championship. So with all that success you can understand why Johnson has accumulated a Duke Blue Devils, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, L.A. Lakers, New York Yankees kind of backlash. And with that, Jimmie Johnson’s tweets get followed/tweeted at by a lot of haters and nut jobs.
