Awards shows are self-congratulatory industry bacchanalia that we play voyeur to because we love watching rich and famous people be rich and famous and pretend to be humble.

Slap on a death montage and a lifetime achievement award of some sort to keep it from being a full blown orgy of how awesome everyone must think this specific entertainment medium being celebrated is.

Robert Griffin III: role model of the year?

Robert Griffin III

Despite recent injury, Robert Griffin III continues to be a great role model and asset for The Washington Redskins.

In sports today, there are very few athletes that can be truly deemed a good role model. There was an ad campaign by Charles Barkley making sure fans knew he was not trying to be a role model for their kids. In the ad campaign he states, “I’m not paid to be a role model. I’m paid to wreak havoc on the basketball court.” Robert Griffin III is a fresh take on the whole athletes as role models idea.

Robert Griffin III otherwise known as RG3 may never be the same again.

It was reported Tuesday that Dr. Andrews will surgically repair Griffin’s lateral collateral ligament in his right knee, which he tore in Sunday’s wild-card loss against the Seattle Seahawks. 2012 NFL Season Preview: NFC East

With the NFL regular season rapidly approaching, let’s take a look at the intriguing NFC East.  Featuring the reigning Super Bowl champions (Giants), the former “Dream Team” turned “dynasty in the making” (Eagles), the league’s most exciting rookie (Robert Griffin III), and America’s team (you know who that is), this division might just prove to be the wildest in the NFL.

Giants: Remember the 2008 team that started 11-1 after winning Super Bowl XLI?  This squad could be similar, with a confident defending champion facing a mild early schedule.  They addressed two big depth needs at RB and WR with their first two draft picks (David Wilson and Reuben Randle), while third-rounder CB Jayron Hosley has made some noise in the preseason.  Just ask Mark Sanchez.

What we know for sure is [Read more…]

We knew he was going to be dominant at the next level. It was obvious when you saw how he tore up Big Ten offensive lines.

The National Football League announced today Washington Redskins linebacker Ryan Kerrigan as the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month for September. He is the first Redskins player to win the award since Chris Horton in September 2008 and the fourth overall to receive the honor (Horton, Fred Smoot in September 2001 and Champ Bailey in October 1999).

It’s getting to be a bigger week for Purdue Boilermakers fans, at least on the NFL level. Curtis Painter should start at QB for the Indianapolis Colts this week.

Rex Grossman is Washington Redskins QB1 OFFICIALLY!

The “sex cannon” is once again a starter in the NFL. The Washington Redskins depth chart lists Rex Grossman as first on opening day at the position of quarterback. (And people wonder why I call Daniel Snyder the worst owner in all of sports).

Does that sound nuts to Chicago Bears fans? It should because Rex Grossman’s one “good” season. Actually, it was a good half-season as Sexy Rexy led the Bears to the Super Bowl (or you could say they went to the Super Bowl in spite of him,

His twenty-three touchdowns in one season (’06) rank Grossman among the best Bears quarterbacks in the franchise’s history. while his twenty interceptions in one season are among the most thrown by any Bears’ quarterback in almost two decades. The unusual combination ranked Grossman as statistically the most inconsistent quarterback in almost a decade. See the chart below
