33 “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” Commuter/Geography Plot Holes, Mistakes

The 1987 John Hughes holiday classic “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” is considered by many to be the best Thanksgiving movie of all time. Many families, including my own, screen the ’80s film at family gatherings this week, and in some cases, those watch parties involve pointing out all the glaring plot holes. Such is the case in my family, which includes several engineers, a few pilots and other assorted non-stupid people.

Throw in a fact-finding journalist, in a holiday environment where the bourbon is free-flowing, and now you’ve got another layer added to this timeless tale of commuter headaches on steroids. -the Lions failing to live up to expectations/Matt Stafford throwing three picks

-Green Bay winning in dominant fashion 27-8, despite playing UGLY football for a half

-The Detroit fans getting a petition passed to prevent the crappy, overrated pop act Nickelback from playing at halftime

-Would this match-up of two potentially playoff bound NFC North teams live up to night back featuring two first place teams (San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens)

However, the real story here was Ndamukong Suh getting kicked out of the game early in the second half.

notre-dame_cheerleaders

Offense was the story in South Bend on Saturday, as Tommy Rees the “Game Manager” became Tommy Rees “the Touchdown slinger.”

Notre Dame reeled off 42 first half points thanks in large part to four passing touchdowns from their quarterback in route to a 59-33 shellacking of the Air Force Academy in a game that was not even as close as the already lopsided outcome would suggest.

Rees had trouble missing his targets as he connected on 23 of 32 passes for just under 300 yards and four touchdowns.
