Texas’ Tristan Thompson Major Beneficiary of WEAK NBA Draft Class

The Texas Longhorns Tristan Thompson is probably going to capitalize from some of the top prospects in college basketball returning to school. The decisions of blue chip prospects like Harrison Barnes, Jared Sullinger and Perry Jones not declaring for the 2011 NBA Draft is will end up making Thompson a ton of money.

Thompson could end up a late-lottery pick even though he may not be ready to contribute major minutes right away.

“There are probably 25 guys that have been told they’re lottery picks, but only 14 that actually are. I think it comes down to your workotus and how you produce in comparison to the guys that are at your position,” Thompson said at the NBA Draft combine.

Longhorns’ Jordan Hamilton Increases Agility, NBA Draft Stock with Yoga

Jordan Hamilton Texas

In this NBA Draft class, there’s a lot of concern surrounding many of the prospects- including those projected to fall into the lottery. When it comes to Texas Longhorns swingman Jordan Hamilton, some scouts and fans are concerned about him about him being dialed-in and “on it” all the time every game. At least on the defensive end.

“I did kind of over-play guys, but I just got to use my length and things like that. Towards the end of the season I played pretty good defense,” Hamilton said at the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago.

Some members of the basketball cognoscenti believe he just cruises sometimes, and relies on his pure talent, not hard work to get by.

99 in 99: #24 Texas Longhorns

texas longhorn cheerleaders

Remember when the Texas Longhorns were 17-0 and the top ranked team in the country last season?  I will admit it; I was buying into the hype.  They looked like they were going to be a gimme to get to the Final Four with their well-rounded roster.  Instead, the Horns ended up losing eight of their final fourteens regular season games and were a one-and-done in the tourney.

The Sports Bank’s “99 in 99” ranks the 72 power conference college basketball teams and top 27 mid-majors for the 2010-2011 season.  Click here if you missed teams #25-#99.
