Yesterday Nike took the evolution of college football uniforms another quantum leap forward. The world’s leading sportswear concern unveiled its next generation of Nike Pro Combat uniforms and cleats that top collegiate teams University of Oregon, Boise State University, and University of Florida are expected to wear as they take the field in this season’s upcoming bowl games.

NFL players Ndamukong Suh (Detroit Lions), Clay Matthews (Green Bay Packers), Dwayne Bowe (Kansas City Chiefs), Felix Jones (Dallas Cowboys) and Steven Jackson (St. Louis Rams) were also on hand at iconic Cowboys Stadium (site of the next Super Bowl) to introduce the Nike Air Zoom Alpha Talon cleat and the 2011 Nike Pro Combat uniforms to several hundred guests and media.

The current ESPN analyst is one of only four players to win both the Heisman Trophy and Super Bowl MVP; Roger Staubach, Jim Plunkett, and Marcus Allen are the others.) The Pacific Northwest based sportswear corporation unveiled its next generation of Nike Pro Combat uniforms and cleats that top collegiate teams University of Oregon, Boise State University, and University of Florida are expected to wear as they take the field in this season’s upcoming bowl games.

Texas Christian University (TCU) will be debuting the new Air Zoom Alpha Talon cleat with a new version of their current 2010 Nike Pro Combat Uniform in Pasadena, California, January 1, 2011 when they take on the Wisconsin Badgers in the Rose Bowl.

Take a closer look and notice the scales (you know like Frogs have) on the numbers and pants.

Despite Routing #5 Utah, TCU Still Not Slotted for BCS Title Game

Even though #3 and undefeated Texas Christian absolutely manhandled #5 (and previously undefeated) Utah on Saturday, it was still not enough for them to move up into a slot to play for the college football national title. (If the season ended today) In fact, they didn’t even move up at all, they remained at number three.

If you are a BCS proponent, you are truly running out of credibility (not like you really had much to begin with). There are four undefeated teams left in college football, two power conference teams: #1 Oregon and #2 Auburn, and two “mid-majors” #3 TCU and #4 Boise St.

In the latest rankings, the Big Ten first checks in at #7 Wisconsin Badgers, followed by #9 Ohio State Buckeyes, #11 Michigan State Spartans and #13 Iowa Hawkeyes. Throw in Nebraska next year at #8 and it looks like a really solid, top heavy conference even though there is absolutely no way a conference team plays for the title in 2010.
