Green Bay Packers will experience a franchise first against the St. Louis Rams

For the first time in franchise history, the Green Bay Packers will play their third consecutive game in a dome. After road games with the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans, the St. Louis Rams are the next team to welcome Green Bay into their house.

The Rams (3-3) are an up-and-coming team with a stingy defense. All three of their wins have come at home, but they haven’t faced the Packers (3-3) Aaron Rodgers who’s the all-time leader with a 115.9 passer rating in domes (minimum 200 passes).

Chicago Bears season outlook: first quarter

Da Super Fans

Will “Da Bears” make a magical 16-0 run in 2012-13?

Week 4 of the preseason is upon us. Veterans and rookies alike will anxiously await the announcement of the final roster in the days following the Bears matchup against the Browns.

The roster will make its way from 75 players down to the final 53, and many fringe players will have to put it all on the line this Thursday to earn the right to continue playing on Sundays.

The final roster is not yet set, but it’s safe to say that this year’s team is one of the most talented groups to don the navy and orange uniforms. Even though the NFC North is one of the most feared divisions in the NFL, general consensus still remains that the Bears will be making a deep postseason run.

But every team’s hopes are high at the moment. Everyone still has a 0 in the loss column and 16 games to play.

So I’ve decided to take an in depth look at the schedule and try to justify the hype surrounding the Bears. I too believe the Bears will win at least 10 games, march into the playoffs, and will hopefully be playing on the Sunday in February that matters most. But maybe I’m just blinded by bias.

Andrew Luck makes strong statement in debut for Indianapolis Colts

The Indianapolis Colts’ 2012 preseason opener, unlike such games in years past, was significant. It would offer the fan base its first look at the Colts under GM Ryan Grigson, coach Chuck Pagano and, most importantly, new franchise quarterback Andrew Luck.

Safe to say that first look was a good one.

Luck, heir apparent to Peyton Manning, looked a lot like the great former Colts quarterback in several ways Sunday in leading Indy to a 38-3 wallop of the St. Louis Rams at Lucas Oil Stadium, and not just because his first pass as a professional went for a touchdown.

Indianapolis Colts make heartbreaking but necessary decision to release Peyton Manning

Nobody — nobody — wanted it to end this way.

Not you or me. Not Indianapolis Colts fans, who are sure to be divided — many of them irate — about the franchise’s decision to part ways with Peyton Manning. Not Manning himself. Not owner Jim Irsay, who undoubtedly will be the recipient of the aforementioned fan ire. Not Indianapolis Star columnist Bob Kravitz, who was among the first (if not the first) to opine that parting ways with Manning was the only decision that made sense for the franchise and subsequently became an easy target for angry Colts fans as someone who was running the four-time MVP out of town.

Nobody wanted it to end this way.

But it must.

With the official announcement — a joint one — that the Colts will release Manning after 14 seasons with the club coming at noon today, the news we’ve been expecting really hits home. And it hits home hard — for many reasons. But as heartbreaking as it might be to see the departure of someone who essentially put football on the map in Indiana, there was just no way around it.

Badgers Russell Wilson Breaks Passer Rating Record

russell-wilson

His Badgers may have lost an exciting shootout BCS game to the Oregon Ducks, but Wisconsin QB Russell Wilson literally just completed the best season of quarterbacking in college football history. He entered the 98th Rose Bowl game with a passer rating of 191.6.

His performance today yielded a 193.9, giving him a 191.78 for the 2011 season.

Russell Wilson Should Break Passer Rating Record in Rose Bowl

russel_wilson_rose_bowl

Wisconsin QB Russell Wilson will enter the 98th Rose Bowl game with a passer rating of 191.6.

I bring this up because Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III just finished the 2011 season (including the wild Alamo Bowl win) with a pass efficiency of 189.5, which broke the FBS (previously known as college football Division-1A) single season record formerly held by Hawaii’s Colt Brennan.

I think we can officially call this the year of quarterbacking statistics.

It’s what you’ve worked for all season, but chances are your team enters the fantasy football playoffs looking a lot different than the one you started with. Week 12 Fantasy Football Rankings: QB/RB

Many fantasy leagues are just a week away from the start of the playoffs and the pressure is starting to build. Injuries to guys like Fred Jackson and Adrian Peterson have owners making last ditch trade attempts or scowering the waiver wire for a decent replacement. Because of Thanksgiving, this edition of my rankings will be simply that: the rankings. Pick the higher rated player and I will see you in the playoffs.
