It’s almost that time of year again. Wait, is it? But football hasn’t even started its regular season yet? In less than three months, the NBA will be tipping-off the 2012-2013 season when the Boston Celtics travel to Miami to take on LeBron James and the Heat. With all that said, let’s take a look at 10 questions surrounding next season.

40 games into the 2011-2012 NBA season and the Minnesota Timberwolves were actually competing for a Western Conference playoff spot. An injury to Ricky Rubio derailed the T-Wolves surprising start to the season but proved that there is reason for optimism in Minnesota and that the team doesn’t need to make any drastic moves this off-season. Still, a few upgrades could help them get back into post-season next year.

I know the last few years have been down-right dreadful for fans of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Our last few draft picks (Wes Johnson and Derrick Williams) haven’t panned-out, so far or yet. But, Ricky Rubio brought a spark this season before his ACL injury. He lit-up Target Center with his maestro passing skills and non-matador-esque defensive ability that most of his teammates (Michael Beasley) have shown the past few years. He might just be the beginning of a Minnesota-turnaround, though.

Minnesota sports suffer, yet another, serious injury to a superstar. According to sources, Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love needed help leaving the floor Wednesday night against the Denver Nuggets after suffering a blow to the head by JaVale McGee and a mild concussion. I wouldn’t be surprised if Love is out for the rest of the season. [Read more…]

Remember Britney Spears‘ breakthrough hit from the spring of ’99 “Hit me baby one more time?” Of course you do, it was the music video that reintroduced an entire generation of men to the schoolgirl fetish/Lolita complex. The strip club industry should be thankful that the song was so big during an era in which MTV still played music; cuz the song/theme has been a nudey bar staple ever since.
And now the song gets worked by the Minnesota Timberwolves karaoke style.

The Minnesota Timberwolves haven’t given their fans much to smile about over the years, and the NBA itself isn’t really a primary inspiration for laughter.

Albeit a preseason game, Ricky Rubio shined in his NBA debut for the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday night.
The much anticipated debut of the Spanish sensation left Minnesota Timberwolves fans gleaming with hope that the years of missing the playoffs may soon be a thing of the past. And a more prosperous future is on the horizon.
While power forward, and 25 pounds lighter, Kevin Love led the stat sheet with 21 points and 15 rebounds. It was Rubio’s dazzling passes and fabulous execution of the point guard position that was the talk of the Timberwolves’ preseason opener.

Not much has gone right for the Minnesota Timberwolves in the last twenty plus years.
They had a brief flirtation with success during the Flip Saunders and Kevin Garnett years, but the well has been almost completely dry otherwise. The frustration was palpable this spring when general manager David Kahn went over the edge expressing his concerns with the NBA lottery.
The Cleveland Cavaliers garnered the top pick this season and Kahn insinuated that the result was due to anything but the randomness of the ping pong balls. The team will presumably pick up forward Derrick Williams from the Arizona Wildcats after the Cavaliers take Kyrie Irving from Duke. This is not horrible news because the experts do believe that the two at the top of the draft have a large separation from the rest of the field.
