Big 10 Hoops Media Day: Indiana, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Purdue

October 29, 2011 By paulmbanks

Thursday was Big Ten basketball media day, and with it came a set of special quotes and soundbites. Sure, this day is all about college basketball message control. The Universities and SIDs trying to manipulate the information they want you to have, but it doesn't mean there aren't some interesting and articulate statements out there. When you get all the coaches and some of … [Read more...] about Big 10 Hoops Media Day: Indiana, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Purdue

Purdue Basketball Exhibition Game Doubling as Halloween Costume Night

October 25, 2011 By paulmbanks

The first Purdue Boilermakers exhibition game of the 2011-12 college basketball season is set for the day after Halloween. Therefore, the athletic department is encouraging hoops fans to retain Halloween costumes for one more day and wear them to Mackey Arena on November 1st, when the Boilermakers take on Northern State. I predict that when the crowd shows up you'll think … [Read more...] about Purdue Basketball Exhibition Game Doubling as Halloween Costume Night

Can The Purdue Boilermakers Salvage a #3 Seed?

March 12, 2011 By paulmbanks

The Purdue Boilermakers were dealt a serious blow on Friday Night when they were quite simply embarrassed by Michigan State in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament. This comes directly after losing in Iowa to close out the regular season. These two steps in the wrong direction could come back to hurt the Boilermakers come Sunday when the committee considers where to … [Read more...] about Can The Purdue Boilermakers Salvage a #3 Seed?

Purdue Boilermakers Owning State of Indiana Basketball Right Now

February 9, 2011 By paulmbanks

When Robbie Hummel went down with a season-ending injury in mid October, many college basketball pundits believed the Purdue Boilermakers' dream season to be was lost. Their lofty top ten, in some cases top five, national ranking seemed no longer appropriate, and many experts wrote them off. Yet here they are, the second most consistent and powerful team in the Big Ten. … [Read more...] about Purdue Boilermakers Owning State of Indiana Basketball Right Now

The Purdue Boilermakers came in with high hopes for a Big Ten and possibly a national championship, but their college basketball season took  a serious turn for the worse before it even got started when Boilers MVP Robbie Hummel went down for the count on October 15th. Now Boilers coach Matt Painter will no doubt emulate Britney Spears by saying "Gimme More," as in E'Twaun … [Read more...] about JaJuan Johnson Adds Weight, Needs to Carry the Load at Purdue

99 in 99: #19 Purdue Boilermakers

November 4, 2010 By Jeff Trudeau

robbie hummel

With news of Robbie Hummel’s second torn ACL in an eight-month period, the Purdue Boilermakers dropped from second in my rankings to 19th.  Is that too drastic on my part?  When you consider the strength at the top of the Big Ten with teams like Michigan State, Ohio State, Illinois, and Wisconsin; I do not think so. The Sports Bank’s “99 in 99” ranks the 72 power conference … [Read more...] about 99 in 99: #19 Purdue Boilermakers
