Packers clinch consecutive NFC North titles with win over the Bears

With a hard-fought 21-13 win at Soldier Field, the Green Bay Packers have won the NFC North Division for the second consecutive season.

It’s a great day for Packers fans as the Chicago Bears are also sent into desperation mode in regards to their playoff hopes.

Green Bay (10-4) has now won 12 straight against divisional opponents and have their eye set on a first-round bye and home-field advantage in the playoffs.

The injury-riddled Packers beat the Cardinals for their fourth straight win

Injuries are as common to football as cheese is to Wisconsin, but the plague that has hit Green Bay is way beyond what any normal team goes through.

After beating the Arizona Cardinals by the score of 31-17, the Packers (6-3) are legitimately without 11 starting players. New injuries to WR Jordy Nelson, OL Bryan Bulaga and LB/DE Clay Matthews only adds salt to an open wound as the team enters their bye week. [Read more…]

Green Bay Packers running game in shambles in 24-15 win over Jaguars

Despite giving the Jacksonville Jaguars multiple opportunities to compete, the Green Bay Packers held on for a 24-15 win in a game where it could be argued the Jaguars looked like the better team.

Blaine Gabbert outplayed Aaron Rodgers and the Packers’ (5-3) run-game was non-existent against a Jaguars (1-6) team who’s one of the league’s worst at defending the run.

A win is a win, but it leaves you wondering if the Jaguars’ moral victory is slightly better than the Packers’ real victory.

Reggie Wayne and the Indianapolis Colts put a damper on the Packers’ season

Rookie quarterback Andrew Luck connected with Reggie Wayne 13 times for 212 yards and a go-ahead touchdown as the Indianapolis Colts upset the Green Bay Packers by the score of 30-27.

It was an all-around bad day for the Packers who lost Cedric Benson (foot),  B.J. Raji (ankle) and Jermichael Finley (shoulder) to injuries while allowing the Colts to score 27 points in the second half.

Packers survive close call in 28-27 win over the New Orleans Saints

Despite some more questionable calls and a suspect pass defense, the Green Bay packers persevered at home to outlast the New Orleans Saints by the score of 28-27.

Aaron Rodgers wasn’t quite Drew Brees, but still effective while going 31-of-41 for 319 yards, four touchdowns and just the one interception.

The Packers (2-2) kept pace in a competitive NFC North division while the Saints (0-4) pretty much doomed their playoff chances.

Green Bay Packers drop season-opener to the 49ers (Rapid Reaction)

Bad reffing aside, the Green Bay Packers’ defense had no answers for the San Francisco 49ers who went into Lambeau Field and pulled out a 30-22 win.

Aaron Rodgers wasn’t horrible, but he also wasn’t his MVP-self with a costly interception in the fourth quarter with the game on the line.

Matt Flynn for the Win: Packers Embarrass Lions Without Key Starters

With Aaron Rodgers resting on the bench, who would have thought the Green Bay Packers would put up 550 total yards of offense and 45 points?

Back-up QB Matt Flynn had a career day with a franchise record six touchdowns and 480 passing yards in the 45-41 shootout win at Lambeau Field.

Since 1970, Flynn is the 3rd QB to throw for 3 or more TDs in his first two starts. The other two were Dan Marino and Kurt Warner.

For the Lions, QB Matthew Stafford put up college-like numbers with 520 yards and five touchdowns. And there was that Calvin Johnson guy with 244 receiving yards as well.

Some Retro Ryan Grant Helps the Green Bay Packers Move to 13-0

With an easy 46-16 win over the Oakland Raiders, only three games stand between the Green Bay Packers and a perfect regular season. Aaron Rodgers was his brilliant self while amassing 4,000 yards and becoming only the fourth player in NFL history to throw two or more touchdowns in thirteen consecutive games.

In addition to having a lot of success through the air, the Packers actually excelled on the ground against a 28th ranked Raiders run defense.  Ryan Grant ran to the tune of 85 yards on ten carries and scored two touchdowns, an effort which conjures up memories of his breakout 2009 season.

Packers Defense is the Surprise in a 45-7 Win Over the Vikings

Everyone knew Aaron Rodgers and the offense would have a big game, but it was the Green Bay Packers’ defense and special teams who stole the show this Monday Night.

Coming into the game, the undefeated Packers (9-0) were allowing 22.4 points per game, but Adrian Peterson and the Minnesota Vikings (2-7) came nowhere close to that in a 45-7 loss at Lambeau Field.

Rookie wideout Randall Cobb jump-started the Packers big win with a 80 yard punt return for a touchdown on Green Bay’s first possession. With the score, Cobb became the only rookie in Packers history to return a kick-off and punt for a touchdown in the same season.

Packers Play Same Ol’ Record in 33-27 Win Over the Vikings (Rapid Reaction)

Nothing could stop the Green Bay Packers offense as they put up 421 yards of offense in a 33-27 win over the lowly Minnesota Vikings.

Like a broken record, Aaron Rodgers was great and the Packers scored a lot of touchdowns in their league-high seventh win. The Packers are now 7-0 for the first time since 1962, a year in which they won their eighth championship.

Rodgers also became the first quarterback in NFL History to record a QB rating of 110 or higher in seven straight games.

Aaron Rodgers Spreads It Around While Packers Improve to 5-0

Green Bay’s 25 unanswered points helped the Packers move to 5-0 after beating the Atlanta Falcons, 25-14, at the Georgia Dome on Sunday Night. Superstar Aaron Rodgers completed passes to twelve different receivers while fighting for his life behind a makeshift offensive line.

The loss was a spoiler for Matt Ryan who came into Sunday’s affair with a 21-2 record at home. Now, two of Ryan’s three career losses in Atlanta (the other being the 2010 NFC Championship game) can be credited to the Packers.

Aaron Rodgers and Packers Put Up College-Like Numbers Against the Broncos

With a 49-23 win over the Denver Broncos (1-3), the Green Bay Packers (4-0) join the Detroit Lions as the only other undefeated team in the NFL. Offensively, the Packers are unstoppable as they’ve averaged a ridiculous 37 points per game on their four game winning streak.

Aaron Rodgers has shown he’s the premiere quarterback in the NFL and a legitimate MVP contender with another near-perfect performance including six total touchdowns.

In many ways, the Packers are putting up college-like numbers, something the Wisconsin Badgers are doing on a regular basis in the very same state.
