Chicago Bears vs. Green Bay Packers: Brutally Honest Preview

If the 185th installment of the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears works out like it usually does, it should be a great game for NFL Network to kick off their 2012 Thursday Night Football extravaganza.

The Bears (1-0) own the all-time edge by six games in the NFL’s oldest and most historic rivalry, but it’s the Packers (0-1) who have won six of the last seven.

Chicago Bears Season Circling the Drain After Loss to Packers

It’s safe to say the Monsters of the Midway are toiling because their 2011 season is certainly in the toilet.

The Chicago Bears didn’t get the Green Bay Packers A-game, or even their B+game, but they still got beat pretty bad. As my colleague in America’s Dairyland points out, it was an ugly penalty and turnover filled slopfest.

As you might have heard, there is a “little football game” between the two NFL franchises overlapping the Badgers and Wildcats fan bases. In fact, this game was even moved up a half hour to accommodate those wishing to watch the Green Bay Packers take on the Chicago Bears for the right to reach the NFL title game.

The game was such a complete route, they were given plenty of extra time to leave Welsh-Ryan Arena to find their NFC Championship viewing destination.

Northwestern and Wisconsin, in conjunction with the Big Ten Conference, have announced that the tipoff for Sunday’s college basketball game at Welsh-Ryan Arena has been moved up to 11:30 a.m. The matchup is being televised by Big Ten Network.

The change has been made to accommodate fans and to avoid conflict with the NFL  NFC Championship Game between the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears. That game, which is being played at Soldier Field in Chicago, is set to kick off at 2:05 p.m.

In a situation like this, where two teams from the same exact markets are meeting each other in two different sports, how can you not?
