Top Diamondbacks prospect Archie Bradley: big OU Sooners fan

archie-bradley

As we’re just two weeks away from the MLB Trade Deadline, we’re looking at some of the biggest MILB prospect names that will be brought up by MLB GMs. Not saying any of these guys will be traded, but all of them will be talked about. Some are actually on the table; others are not. And yes, watching Low A baseball is WAY BETTER than watching the ESPYs. No question.

Archie Bradley was the seventh overall pick by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2011 MLB Draft. He was also committed to the University of Oklahoma to play both baseball and football. Quite a tough decision to make, Sooners or D’Backs?  Rather Bubba Starlingesque.

Bradley picked the Diamond. He’s currently with the Mobile BayBears. Archie Bradley is rated #1 in the Diamondbacks system, #20 overall in MLB and the #10 RH Pitcher.

oklahoma cheerleaders

Welcome to The Sports Bank’s third annual college basketball season preview series.  Two years we looked at 99 teams in 99 days.  Last year, we were slightly more aggressive and expanded to 111 teams in 111 days and will do so again as we look ahead to the 2012-2013 season.

We will rank the 75 power conference teams and top 36 mid-majors in reverse power ranking order.  We’ll break down rosters, transfers, incoming freshmen, non-conference schedules, and pick a player to watch for each team.

The Lon Kruger era as the Oklahoma Sooners’ head coach got off to a solid start as OU started last season 10-2 in non-conference action.  Reality quickly set in as the Sooners struggled in Big 12 play and finished with a losing record.  All five starters are back this season as Oklahoma could be a sleeper team in the new-look Big 12.

If LSU or Oklahoma State Falls, Who Should Play in New Orleans?

If there is anything that we have learned in college football over the years, it’s that the most chaotic situation is the one most likely to happen. Whether it is a two-loss team like LSU getting a berth in the national title game due to several late losses by other contenders, or a team like Michigan getting passed over because voters didn’t want a rematch between the Wolverines and Ohio State, the mix of human emotion and computer analytics that the BCS provides always ensure that plenty of people will be talking about the outcome.

Notre Dame Football and Brian Kelly: How does this story end?

Notre Dame Stadium

Halfway through his second season at the pressure-packed helm of Notre Dame football, Brian Kelly has experienced horrible tragedy and made almost every mistake imaginable.

From the death of Declan Sullivan to horrible public admission that the players he recruited were on a different level than those he inherited, Kelly has done a lot in creating the minefield he has to navigate daily.

After finishing last season with a four-game winning streak and a lopsided bowl victory over one-time-rival Miami in the Sun Bowl, a lot was expected of the 2011 Fighting Irish.

LSU, Alabama Remain on Top as SEC Dominates Latest BCS Poll

With only six days until their titanic clash in Tuscaloosa on Saturday, the LSU Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide remained on top of the latest BCS standings, which were released on Sunday night. Despite not playing this week, they both remained ahead of an Oklahoma State Cowboys squad that destroyed Baylor on Saturday, but none of that matters now as what will arguably be the most hyped college football game in quite some time is really imminent.

Notre Dame’s Michael Floyd: 3rd or 4th Best Pro Prospect at Receiver?

michael floyd

There are some that would say that Michael Floyd wasn’t even the best receiver on the field on the evening Notre Dame took on USC. And Floyd failed to even surpass the thirty yard mark against the Trojans; which gave the critics more ammunition. Of course, he made up for it yesterday with a 120+ yards receiving and a touchdown versus Navy. Yeah, it’s Navy, but we know what issues the Irish have had with them lately.

Floyd will surpass the thousand yard mark for the second consecutive season. His ability to block down the field to create big plays for others will be vital in the NFL. His size is also coveted by general managers at the next level. Some others deserve to be mentioned in the conversation, but none surpass him in terms of potential.

In a game that served as the first real test that the #8 Kansas State Wildcats have faced this year, they were found to be woefully lacking, as Landry Jones passed for 505 yards and the Oklahoma Sooners scored 44 unanswered points en route to a blistering 58-17 thrashing of KSU in Manhattan.
